Feeling Queasy and Uneasy Around Raw Food

Posted on January 25, 2012 at 3:13pm 5 Comments

I posted this just last night in another forum but did not get any feedback. I am hoping that someone might relate to the following and have some personal experience.

"I made the choice to go 100% raw for one week or at least try my best. And then something strange happened. I went to the organic cafe across the street from me and ordered a green juice with extra ginger. I came home with an upset stomach and then got the runs.  I only mention the particulars because I wonder if anyone…

Goji Berries, Maca Powder, Kelp, Cacao Nibs, Spirulina? Super Foods on The Brain

Posted on January 20, 2012 at 3:23pm 10 Comments

After my super fabulous workout at the gym this morning, I went into Manhattan to do some organic grocery shopping. I go to a beloved store near my train stop. Out here in Jersey City, it's hard to buy organic produce and I just grab what I can when I go to the local Pathmark.

I walked out of the store in the city with a receipt adding up to over $100. I will say that the money was spent on super foods(like cacao nibs and coconut oil, etc )and stuff for the pantry. I figure and I hope…

A Question for a Budget Minded Juice Feast

Hi Everyone! Happy Greens!!

I am very excited to first share with you that I have made some wise investments for the raw kitchen. I bought a refurbished Vitamix, a mandolin veg/fruit slicer, a spiralizer, a sprouter (makes three kinds of sprouts at once) and some fun seeds to sprout. Despite, financial insecurity and paralyzing guilt of my new purchases, I know that I have done the right thing with my money. I know that taking better care of my health and preparing healthy raw foods…

My First Raw Chocolate Adventure!

Posted on January 7, 2012 at 4:24pm 7 Comments

Hi Everyone!

Well, I took the plunge. I bought my first package of raw cacao nibs. After sitting in my cupboard for over a week, I pulled them out and put them to good use. I made a simple but delicious smoothie.

This is what I did:

Almond Milk

Purified Water

One frozen banana

Organic Cold Pressed Coconut Oil (I am loving this stuff!!!)

Dulse Seaweed

And yes, Raw Cacao Nibs

And blend rapidly. Jump…

Haha, I guess it kinda is! I decided about 8 months ago that raw veganism is something I REALLY wanted to try, but then I got laid off xD

Now I'm back on my feet with a stable job that I enjoy so yeah, I'm finally going through with it!

As for my home being completely empty? I doubt one could say so. I go to college when I can afford to, but I live with my parents(can't complain, the drive to work is only 10-15 minutes and my rent is only $20 a week. :P)

But yeah, my dad has a juicer, so I'm going to try making a green juice, then using the leftover pulp in my mom's crummy blender(had to buy a new android, smoothies aren't a priority because our blender makes great hummus and banana shakes :P) and add water, and see how that turns out since it's already finely ground.

And thank you for accepting the friend request! Raw foods FTW!
