Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

I am working on day 2 of raw and am suffering through the headache and feeling of detox starving.   I had a banana and a fruit smoothie and am going out for a raw salad.  I started yesterday because we are having the kitchen redone and it started yesterday.  So for at least two months,  I have NO kitchen, just a refrigerator.  I thought this would be a good time to commit.  It is still hard putting salads together at home and I am working on it. I would love to try recipes, but it is just too complex.  We have to bring any dishes we use upstairs to a bathroom and that is not going to happen. I did have  small cup of coffee today to wean off the caffeine because I woke up with a headache and did not get much sleep.

My struggles are primarily sugar, caffeine, processed foods, stress, and sleeping issues.  If I could sleep well that would be a huge hurdle to overcome.

Sleep is a great thing to work on. For me, earplugs have been most helpful. I also find that a good book helps too, but it can't be too gripping or I'll want to stay up reading.

For meals/snacks, another simple option is sliced veggies with nut-butters or seed-butters.

Broccoli marinated in lemon juice, salt & pepper can be prepared a day in advance. This works really well with kale too. And you can add sliced tomatoes, avocado, and cucumbers (or whatever) to make a well rounded salad.

Celery with dates, or dates stuffed with almonds or walnuts, chopped fruit tossed with basil or mint...

have fun!

Islegirl, that Tumeric Tea sounds so intriguing! can't wait to try it :)

Great...you're gonna get a new kitchen!!!!!

Make it simple if you have no sink to do dishes or even wash veggies?

Like an avocado + a little salt and/or some lemon squeezed on it!

A mashed banana + shredded coconut + little amount of cocoa bits, it's delicious!

Pineaple by themselves are delicious too....ect....good luck and hope the work goes fast!
