I had a raw break-through that I thought it would be fun to share with my buddies here in the 'hab (love this place!)
Last weekend I attended a 4 day professional development training about 2 hours away from where I live. I was staying on campus with meals provided for the participants.
This is the first time that I've been away from home for any length of time since I went fully raw over a year ago. I was a little apprehensive about the food thing because all of my meals would be at the institute - and they are not at all raw.
But, I took great care of myself I checked ahead of time to find out if it would be ok for me to bring my Vitamix, and if I could have space in the fridge for greens. They were super accomodating. Even though it took some pre-planning and extra schlepping to take my own food - I'm so glad that I did.
Every morning I made a magnificent green smoothie and enjoyed the flax crackers I had brought from home slathered with bananas and almond butter. Lunch and dinner were huge salads from their buffet augmented with sprouts from home and nut spreads that I brought. One evening I even made a veggie soup with my Vitamix.
The funny thing is that some of the others who were at the training began to inquire about my green drinks and ask for sips and even wanted to come watch me make them in the kitchen. I was able to be fully engaged in my training - which was amazing - and to eat in the way that suits me. It all worked out wonderfully and now I know that my Vitamix can go out for a spin!
