Those who matter don't mind and those that mind don't matter

"Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." dr. Seuss must have known what it was like to be different. I wonder if he was raw vegan or a fat child? It seems all his books were about characters that were very different and found confidence and peace in being who they were. He was a true visionary!
Sometimes choosing to eat the way i do makes me feel like an alien or at least a Dr. Seuss character. Walking into a grocery store and only finding things to buy out of the fresh vegetable section and ignoring the entire remainder of the store that was designed for everyone else. Going out to eat gives me a panic attack because while everyone else happily orders a pizza or hamburger and fries and seem thrilled with there selection, i have to tell the waitress I would like a salad and can you please leave off the cheese, chicken, bacon, croutons and can i get the dressing on the side. It's not that i want the things everyone else is eating. I actually don't enjoy them anymore. My tastes have changed and those food taste too greasy or fatty, or salty, or processed. Years ago when i was addicted to all those foods, i would have never thought i would prefer a green smoothie to a cheeseburger. But i really do! Fortunately life changes and in this case for the better. I heard it said in the movie Fork over knives that " you need to try a food at least 15 times before you decide if you like it". I think that is true, because the foods i enjoy today are definitely things i made myself eat at the begining because they were good for me. I used to drink a six pack of diet coke a day and now i don't think i could even get one down and if i did i bet it would make me sick. What doesn't make any sense is that i am eating fruits, vegetables, sprouts, nuts, seeds, and beans. But somehow i'm the weird one. The general population is eating the standard american diet of processed "foods" which are more chemical then food. Then so they get their "protein" they eat dead animals that are mistreated, injected with hormones and antibiotics, chemicals added to the meat so it stays pink and doesn't go rancid, and then they have to cook it so they don't get sick from eating it. Yeah, I'm the weirdo. ;)

PS if Im going to be one I better learn how to spell it -weirdo!

And I truly love that quote -said it to my daughter the other day but didnt know where it came from. The more confident and comfortable I get about this way of life, the less other people's negative/confused opinions concern me. I just try not to make other people feel like I'm judging them cos that's a real relationship breaker  and as someone said- we were probably all carnivore cooked foodies once.

Ha ha ladies - Im in the wierdo club too. A couple of years ago when I was shopping for our fairly mainstream cafe (healthy options inc and no fried food -we tried!) I often used to have a trolley with say 8 large blocks of cheese in it and other stuff and people would look at me funny. Someone said -"you must like cheese" and I said "yes I do". My sense of humor.

However noone has yet said to me "you must like fruit and veg"  but I do get some perplexed looks and I try oh so hard not to give people with trolleys full of real junk  a funny look  -bit I do think things!

Gotta work on my answer for when some one eventually does ask about my trolley. Cheers

Yay for "weirdos"! Truth is, we are in alignment with the earth and they are on another plane. Up to us to educate them.....if they want to hear.

What is your RDA (dose) of carbon monoxide? Umm none for me thanks! I yam a bit of a snob when it comes to those pink thangs. hahahah
