Has anyone else tried 'Maggie's cough remedy' that was recently posted on RFR's facebook page?
It tastes wonderful! (aside from being a remedy of any sort, I think it would be perfect with mangos...)
I don't have a cough, but I've had a sore throat for over a week. While I can't say it has helped my sore throat go away (it is labeled as a cough remedy afterall), it does distract from the pain.
Another remedy that I've tried:
Brew in ~10 oz of water. Pour into a cup, straining through a slotted spoon. Add 1 or 2 tsp each of honey and lemon juice.
I don't know where I got the idea. It might be a mixture of recipes I found when researching sore throat remedies or possibly when I was researching soothing drinks for sleep, but I couldn't find the source again.
What do you all do to help a sore throat?
Looking forward to hearing other ideas!

Thanks for all of the suggestions! I'd forgotten about gargling, so I'll definitely be adding that to my regimen. I was able to find Throat Coat at the grocery store.
Jane: I have to admit, the garlic doesn't sound appealing - I'll try it because I'm desperate to be rid of this sore throat, but blue lace agate is very pretty; I'd much rather just try that :)
Alice: Thanks for suggesting oregano oil - I bought some last time I had a cold but forgot about it. And the turmeric and honey sounds interesting. Turmeric seems to have so many health benefits. I've always been meaning to try to find ways to add it to my diet.
Comment by Alice on January 18, 2013 at 1:56pm Mix some turmeric into honey and take a spoonful, it really helps.
To prevent a sore throat I take 6-7 drops of oregano oil, mixed into a tiny bit of juice everyday. When I feel under the weather I take oregano oil 2 or 3 times a day.
Comment by Peggy Speir on January 18, 2013 at 9:48am I gargle with warm salt water. And if I need something else I drink a ginger, lemon, honey tea.
Comment by Tinacristina on January 17, 2013 at 10:52am Check out Organic Throat Coat by Traditional Medicinals (tea bags). There are other brands out there too but you can usually find them at any health food store and some major grocery stores too. I try to keep a supply on hand at all times.
Comment by Jane on January 17, 2013 at 9:50am Boil and simmer: lemon, a lot of ginger, and garlic in a pan. Allow to cool and sip. Unfortunately it doesn’t taste great (think Chinese herbal remedies or medicine) because it isn’t sweetened... and then there’s the garlic, but it works a treat for me.
My sister, who has throat issues, also recommends wearing a blue lace agate pendant, which is associated with the throat chakra – she swears by it :-)
Comment by Amber on January 16, 2013 at 10:58pm I use this recipe and gargle with it... cured my hubby's sore throat that night: Lemon, Apple Cider Vinegar, Cayenne, and Honey Tea. Add one teaspoon of apple cider vinegar, a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper, the juice of 1/4 lemon, and one teaspoon of honey to a cup of hot water. Stir well before gargling or drinking. Have this mixture 4 times in a day.
