Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

I am absolutely thrilled. In the last week I've had numerous people tell me how tan I look. And guess what? I haven't spent any time in the sun! (just walking to and from my car :). I've read that carotenoids in veggies are responsible for the natural glow I'm experiencing. I went raw about a month ago, with a days of slips (and i woke up swollen and sluggish the next day both times, yuck). Overall, I feel and look fantastic :) yay! Has anyone else experienced this dramatic change?

Yes the skin tone changes, you glow on raw food! The skin gets really beautiful (at any age on top of everything!).

Hi Tira,

The yellow/orange tinge is caused by the carotene in fruit and vegetables and is called Carotenemia.

I think Dr. Fuhrman says, in his book: 'Eat to Live', that anyone who doesn’t have a yellowish tinge to their skin is not eating a good enough diet (obviously it’s more noticeable in Caucasian skin).  I definitely have a yellow-ish tinge to my skin, though I don’t look tanned, which is particularly obvious when my hand or arm is next to somebody else’s.

:-)

Yeah I'm definitely not outside more, I'm a full time student, work full time and I'm a mom, but I wish I had more time to be outside since I have so much energy! But it's still nice. My diet was awful from pregnancy, I caved to any and all of my cravings when pregnant with both of my children. My skin was blotchy and I got acne easily. This is such a fantastic change for me, it really boosts my confidence :)

when I am high raw I look tan, for sure. It's pretty cool. But what I notice is that when I am high raw I also have more nergy so I am outside more and getting lots of fresh blood to my skin....so it could be that too.

Either way - it's great!
