Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Just had my 30 year high school reunion. Yup, another mile marker in my life. Although I dreaded going since I had put on 30 lbs since the last time I saw them, I decided to go and enjoy myself. I am so glad I did. We had a little over half the class of 63 show up which was amazing! It was like we had just graduated from high school ... except we were old enough to do the bar hopping thing on Friday night. lol I must say we were/are one of the closest classes that had graduated and many of us keep tabs on each other.

We had a great time Friday bar hopping and then Saturday was a golf tournament and then the get together/potluck/dance. We even had a remembering slideshow put together from one of the classmates and door prizes of which a drag quilt of mine was the top prize and 2 sets of pillowcases! :) The recipients just loved them. We had a blast! One of the classmates also has a karaoke set up so we sang and danced and laughed. Loads of photos were taken and plans started for the next get together for our 50th 29th birthday in 2 years.

What surprised me the most was most of my classmates have been following my raw food posts! I had so many of them come up and tell me that because of all my bantering they have started eating more raw! How awesome is that?!

Everyone kept coming up and telling me how good I looked. They also asked me why I started raw. I was honest and said I haven't been too raw for about 8 months and I did put weight back on and didn't feel as good, but I am back on track now. I also told them that most do fall off when they start but you feel so good that you go back on. It's not an instant thing; old habits are hard to break, but it's a lifestyle change and well worth the effort. I told them I had maintained high raw for over a year and just laxed off. I started feeling yuck again and all the old pains and ailments came flooding back. Now that I'm back being raw, the pains and dis-seases are going away again.

I think what amazed them the most is I had so much energy and "looked like I just stepped out the high school year book." All the questions and the "because of you I eat more raw" comments. Needless to say Sunday I was pretty hoarse and working Sunday night was interesting answering phone calls.

It was also great that at the Saturday night get together they had huge veggie trays and fruit trays - so I was set! It was also funny that most of the classmates did watch what I chose to eat. It was like I had the raw food gestapo watching what I was putting on my plate. I loaded my plate with veggies and fruit. When I sat down, it was "you REALLY DO eat raw." lol I even managed to stay 80% + raw ... even in my hometown!
(my beverage of choice was water the whole trip plus one smoothie I had brought with me)

Now ... I have another goal which is to look better every time we get together. All the classmates that are close to my area are going to try to get together once a month or once every other month to keep in touch. I have even started a list of what we need to do to get a hotel for the birthday party since it's going to be in Fargo and they wanted the "local" classmates to help set that up here.

People really do absorb actions and take notice of how good raw really looks in a photo. And all those compliments really felt good! :) Life is good on raw!
