Rejuvelac, Fermented Vegetables or Both?

I've been having some stomach issues of late and I'm thinking I need to start working with some probiotics in my diet.  I've been reading on how to ferment cabbage and veggies and also how to make rejuvelac.  I'm just wondering, do I need both or can I choose just one and stick with that?   I'm still in a quandary.  Another factor is cost.  Which would be cheapest to make and upkeep?  Both seem fairly reasonable in price but I'm thinking the rejuvelac might be more affordable to me at this time since I'm unemployed.  Any replies would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for posting this.  I had been thinking about using the small head of cabbage in the refrigerator in the sauerkraut recipie in the fermented food section but hadn't gotten around to it.  Following the link back to that section that Penni posted, I got curious about what is out there on the web and did a bit of surfing and now I am really enthused to try this.  In doing so I found a website I really like:  wildfermentation.com

Best wishes for success with culturing veggies!

I just started a batch of rejuvelac too.  I used 1/2 C wheat berries which coat about $.40

Kombucha is another "cheap" source (that does have probiotics, right?)  I end up with more babies than I know what to do with :-)

I just made rejuvelac with different  grains, They have really helped my belly and digestive issues, for me rejuvelac also gives me energy, but I also have cultured veggies, they both are economical.  You could ask your local super market for any veggies that they are exchanging for newer ones, I think they throw the older ones out.  I just bought 8 pounds of organic lemons for .85 cents. Nothing wrong with them,  I made friends with the assistant manager of produce and actually the manager as well.  The veggies might have one or two bruises but just cut the bruises out and use the rest for cultured veggies. Just a thought...

Penni pointed out where to go.  Rejuvalc is the least expensive to me.

you may already have checked out our sections on fermented drinks and veggies, but in case you missed them, I wanted to give you the links:

Honestly, I feel that this is one of the most cost effective ways to get beneficial probiotics into your system.  I hope those threads will help you and I know you'll get additional info that will support you!
