Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Any members suffering from oesteoporosis? If so, what foods have you been focused on? Any improvements? Having trouble with my ankle, swollen, very stiff and painful. Had blood tests , no arthritis, had an x ray, no breaks but evidence of weak bones. I walk a lot and have always done so. Eat high raw but aspire to 100% raw, still eat some rubbish. Any suggestions?

Hi Geraldine, I had chronic swelling before I went raw, but I think it was due to consuming table salt (Dr. Mercola does not believe it should be eaten and neither do I). So I just wanted to say, throw out your table salt if you haven't already and read the labels on the "rubbish" which often has tons of table salt in it. I use Himalayan pink salt or unrefined sea salt with no more problems.

Besides the great advise you have received here, Geraldine, I would like to add taking some Probiotics  daily and Digestive Enzymes with each meal.  This will help get all the nutrition possible from the foods you eat.   Bone growth is one of several reasons I take them.  I was put on prescription meds for bone growth fifteen years ago and before I knew if they worked or not; I developed ulcers from the medication.  My best hopes for you and your health  : )

Hi Geraldine,

My mum has this.  She upped her levels by doing weight training.  I think she is also trying to up her magnesium intake, on the basis that it helps inhibit calcium from being extracted from your bones.

I would make sure you get lots of greens and I've also learned that sesame seeds/milk are very high in calcium.  I am sure you will get more info.   My dad suffers from gout....your symptoms sound similar....this is caused by inflammation and he is very active but his feet/ankles/knees will sometimes swell to double the size and he can hardly walk.
