Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
So excited- I brought a raw dessert to 2 different Thanksgiving meals and everyone loved them.. I made a jumble berry upside down cake ( Jennifer Cornbleet's recipe) and then I just make an cinnamon apple upside down cake using the same idea- It was so easy and so quick- I couldn't use the food processor because of a missing piece so I made the crust in my blentec- nuts, coconut and date-Itprobably was a little more processed than it should have been but no one complained.
I feel so good about this because I am usually the one who brings dessert- the real classic ones with tons of butter and sugar- so finding a popular alternative it amazing!

Comment by Deborah Grissam on November 25, 2012 at 1:31pm Don't give me Bobbie Job! I brought a raw pie last year - the only way it was eaten was put in the microwave and then slathered in ice cream!
This year, I did not say that the cake was raw- I just called it a "torte" and everyone loved it- even my sons who usually make fun of my raw "hippy " food. Don't give up!!
OH I ENVY YOU! i have brought raw desserts to events before, and i feel like i've gotten such cold stares.. i even brought dipped strawberries (which, c'mon, everyone loves!) and people politely had one each... claimed they could taste the coconut oil in the chocolate. i never even tell them what i've made is raw! it's so frustrating because i love to bring dessert, but i'm not being asked so much anymore.... sigh. i'm pretty sure it's because everyone is expecting some outrageous cake from me (like i used to make). they want the frosting, not the actual FOOD!
