Comment by Peggy Speir on April 28, 2012 at 12:05pm It's to help you flush out all that metabolic waste you accumulate in your sleep. We have thousands of cells that turn over daily and it is in our sleep that our body is repairing, but accumulating all that waste in our system - which is acidic.
The lemon in the water is very alkalizing (I know this sounds kind of weird, but lemon is not acidic), so helps balance our bodies out.
I always start my day off with a liter of water (with or without lemon juice) just to move things through me and wake up my digestive system.....then once I am hydrated and `flushed`out I add in my first green juice of the day - The idea being my system is cleaned out and ready to soak up all those green nutrients.
