Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
My Premier Wet Grinder arrived Friday afternoon as promised. Yesterday was the first day I used it and I chose to make coconut butter.
The first try was using my dehydrated coconut chunks. Wet grinders and "chunks" don't work. I got out the dehydrated coconut flakes from the health food store. It takes the ingredients in increments and the amount of water you choose to add determines the consistency. I wanted thicker coconut butter for homemade raw Almond Joye bars.
It was an easy clean even though mine is not a tilt grinder. The stone wheels come out for a hot water clean and the 1.5 litre bowl lifts off for cleaning.
It does weigh nearly 30 pounds so this machine will have to find a permanent place on the kitchen counter. I am completely happy with my Premier Wet Grinder purchased at Hot Dishes (dot) com. It was free shipping as well!
Next will be cacao chocolate. I'll be making nut butters for Christmas gifts this year!

How fun!
Comment by Mae Jardine on May 14, 2012 at 10:30am Thanks for the added information, Molly. I've been considering the purchase of a grinder to make my own nut butters. I need to make smaller portions for one person and most grinder descriptions I read are fairly large capacity and very heavy. Of course, if I made the purchase it would be wonderful to grind other foods.
My best to you of fun and success with your experiments : )
Mae, I bought the Premier Wonder wet grinder. It is the stainless-steel, non-tilting version. But the bowl comes off for scraping and cleaning. Of course, you have to be careful about not using soap as the stones will absorb it and make the foods taste soapy. And a peanut will probably never be ground in here just to be on the safe side; for those allergic to them. This week I'm going to try chocolate.
I will say, this doesn't come with instructions on how to make nut butters because it is meant for an Indi dish called Dal. It uses cooked rice. But it's a grinder all the same. And the consistency of the butters depends on how much water you add. My coconut butter is more like a paste, which is what I wanted. I'll just place around with it and when I feel comfortable using it I'll make a video.
Comment by Mae Jardine on May 14, 2012 at 3:31am Hi Molly: I went and checked out the wet grinders at the website you gave. Which one did you purchase? It sounds better than the descriptions I read and very practical for home use. I like your idea of homemade raw Almond Joy treats. I think I would use one more to make small batches of nut butters. Any input you could give me would be appreciated. Thanks
Comment by Mae Jardine on May 13, 2012 at 9:48am It sounds like a whole lot of fun going on in your kitchen, Molly. Can't wait to see you in your video making your goodies. Congratulations on your new kitchen tool. Enjoy : )
When I win the Mega Millions wet grinders are on me! ;o)
Susan, I will try to get a video up soon. I have some raw almonds and want to make almond butter next. I'm wondering if sprouting them will affect the final product. It will just have to be an experiment.
Comment by Sally Berk on May 13, 2012 at 7:02am Thank you, Molly! Great idea and a great price! I am thinking about getting one! I have wanted a wet grinder for a while but the ones I have looked at were too expensive. This one is affordable. Please, update us on your progress and let us know how the nut butters work out. Thanks for sharing. Yes,please add me to your christmas list too ; )
Ahem...put me on your Christmas list!! : )
Take a video and show us how you do it!!
