Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

It's actually been tough to stay raw since the fast ended over a week ago. I'm still eating vegetarian, but raw is another story entirely.

The biggest issue is that at the same time I came off the fast was coincidentally the same time most of the fruit disappeared from the store shelves. Of course there is every kind of apple you could ever want or need, but I'm basically all "apple'ed out" at the moment.

I know it's an excuse, because I need to get back to preparing meals raw, rather than grabbing something raw and eating it. As many of you know when you have to feed kids the raw food preparation time can be severely impacted depending on the day.

My way of staying raw has always been a ratio of 30% prepared meals, 35% juicing and then 35% ready to eat fruit or vegetables. I try to keep it simple and that usually works, at least for me. Most of the time that prepared meal is dinner and I juice and eat raw food in the form of fruit or vegetables throughout the day.

The truth is I'm ready to go back on a fast, because I really don't do well on a vegetarian diet for some reason. It's almost like I feel I'm eating a SAD diet. You can actually feel the difference both mentally and physically. I know I'm just being lazy... :)

So I have to fire up the dehydrator and start planning better meals for the entire week. I'm ready to get back on track! Well,

Keep it raw...if at all possible that is. :) jk...keep it raw of course.

"grabbing something raw and eating it"     That sounds good to me.  :-)

I am enjoying grapes at the moment and the first persimmons are appearing.

In some ways that is the beauty of eating a healthy diet.....when you add back in things that aren't so good..cooked foods, dairy, feel it.

But the whole time factor and having to prepare their dinner as well as your own....that does make it need to have time to do more than just make juice and prepare food.

I still haven't gotten it down consistently, but I do choose raw and vegan foods more and more.
