Well I can't believe it's been a month already since my heart attack. I'm doing fine. I went immediately low fat, not salt, no sugar and completely vegan and have stuck with it 100%. Actually Rich has too. I tell you what, that heart scare was a real motivator!

It's really not hard when you put your mind to it and I can now see that all the failed attempts in the past, were just that, attempts, and I can honestly say I left myself an open door out. And I took it, the easy way out. Granted I am not completely raw at the moment because my main objective is just to get as much fruits and vegetables (aka nutrients) in as possible while leaving the SOS (salt, oil, sugar) out. Total compliance is the focus. It's a learning process for sure.

I had another scare a week ago. I thought I was having another attack. Same symptoms as before so off to the hospital I went. This time I was not taking chances. I was lucky. It was not a heart episode. What I did was slip a disc in my neck so the pain in my neck, and back and numbness in my left arm was from that. The good news was that I had a full work up while at the ER, and my heart looks great! Great strong rhythm, 100% oxygen, and my blood pressure was perfect. My doctor said that the diet has already had a positive effect. So I don't dare mess with that.

Plus I'm already down 20 lbs in a month. Gotta love that.

I'm taking the next six weeks to step it up a notch. Drop my starches (root vegetables, squashes, corn, sweet potatoes and whole grains) down to one serving a day and going for the 2 lbs of veggies a day minimum, 1 lb cooked and 1 lb raw or maybe 2 lbs raw but that's a lot more chewing! :) lots of salads for sure.

So that's where I'm at. Going plant strong and actually doing it!

Remember people, your health is in your hands or more often, your fork. Eat it up! You are worth it!

Thanks everyone for your words of support. I've been reading but unable to comment until now.

I'm just going to keep truckin along. It's funny, I think it's actually easier to eat raw even with oils, salts and fats than all the cooking of vegetables, grains and stuff. It's an adjustment having to deal with pots and pans and the clean up again. I might just gravitate back to raw but stay low fat, and no salt, especially with summer fruits and veggies coming. I'll keep you posted. :)

Wow! Had know idea what you had gone through girl! I saw your post on FB about diet change but did not know what motivated you on that. So glad you are doing well now. Hugs! I am back as I finally have internet at home. I found it frustrating trying to access with my phone so rawfoodrehab went to the way side. I too am looking at changing my diet again after watching Vegucation. My doc had told me to put meat  back in to help balance my bloodsugar last year and now I am considering taking it back out again. I think my injury and pain had more to do with my bloodsugar issues than anything else. Good for you on loosing 20 pounds! Glad you are doing well.

I am so happy to hear that you're doing so well one month in to this!  I know it is hard to stay on track, but if that scare wasn't motivation for you, I don't know what is!  I am cheering you on and love hearing about a 20 lb drop in just one month - that's so exciting and I'd LOVE to see that on my scale!  I'd be jumping up and down - but the most important thing is that you feel good and that your body is efficiently healing! So HAPPY!
