On the Fence With My Weight Loss Goals

Aloha everyone!

 

Not a very sunny day over here, and I am procrastinating my work commitments so I thought I might as well take some time to put my thoughts in writing. Over the last 2 years I have lost over 60 pounds and I haven't had a problem keeping it off... however I'm not done losing. According to the BMI calculators, I need to lose another 30 pounds to be in the normal range. However, I could stand to lose up to 45! Anyway- I'm pretty sure this go FRESH! initiative is going to do the trick to get this weight loss into full gear. However, I'm stuck as to what I should make my goals.

 

On the one hand, I'd like to really challenge myself and try to lose those 30 pounds... on the other hand I don't want to set myself up for failure so I'm thinking a 20 pound goal might be a better idea. I think either way, it's going to be fun watching these inches fly off (hopefully, lol). I already eat probably 70% raw and mostly vegan, but I could stand to cut back on the nuts, seeds, dried fruits, nut butters, raw brownies, etc. hehehehe

Thanks for the food for thought.  You're blog post came at the right time for me as I am looking inward to set realistic goals.  Yet,  after loosing the first 5 over the first few days it now puts me within 30 of where my body was most comfortable around the 215-220 range for most of my adult life.  The charts claim I can stand to loose another 50 on top of that, I'm not quite sure those chart plans would look at that great on my big bones, but I'm hoping to be where you are...at a point of finding out just what weight is ideal for you at this point in you're life.   Rock on, I'm sure which ever way you decide you are going to find success!

Here's my opinion, I set my goal at around 2 lbs./week, which is (from what I hear) a realistic goal to healthy weightloss.  I figure, if  I lose more, YAY!! or if I lose around 20-25 then GREAT....I need to lose around 30-35,  so I understand the delima!!  I am looking forward to getting to know everyone in the Vault!

This is a great question!  I am reflecting on what I would like my goal to be as well...   I have about 50 lbs I'd like to lose, in general, so I would *love* to lose 30 lbs during Go Fresh. A few people managed to do that during the last intiative, so I know it's possible!  Setting more modest goals can be good too though, for the reasons you articulated.  I'd say go with whatever motivates you more: setting a goal you feel 100% confident you can achieve, or setting a goal that feels like a leap of faith.   I'll be giving it some thought, too.  Let me know what you decide!  :)

how about this?

 

toss the scale and the goal, wake up every day with your goal to eat the best foods and do the best things for your body and soul!!

 

cut down on the SUGAR and pile up on HEALTHY FATS-- look up how your liver metabolizes sugar vs fats!

 

our bodies are incredibly powerful and able to find our ideal space given the right tools.

I'm with you GF!   WE ARE GOING TO GO FRESH AND REACH OUR GOALS. Hey go for 20 and enjoy it :)

I'm so hoping this initiative will re focus my attempts to lose the remainder of my waste too :0)

I also have a round 40lbs to shed to bring me down to a happy 169lbs which I can't ever remember being, but must have once!

I won't set a goal for the 11 weeks, but will be overjoyed to loose even 7 - 10 lbs of it, as that means I should be at target by the end of this year - I do of course wish to go better than that, but want to stay away from disappointment...

I want to get off the obese records with my GP!!!

You have done so fantastically so far Rachael, and you are sure to continue doing so xx

I'm having the same internal debate.  I am at a weight now that I haven't seen in years.  I am still not sure if I want to (need to?) lose more weight or maintain my current weight.

 

I've tried looking online for the "recommended" weight for someone of my age/height/activity and I am still classified as obese and "should"  lose another 30+ pounds!

 

One thing I know for sure...I want to be/feel healthy and stay that way.
