Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

I have been reading about RAW eating for a while now but honestly, I have no clue where to start. I do know I am more into Green Smoothies since I am not in a place where I can afford a Juicer. But beyond that, I am lost. Do I just eat a lot of fruits and veggies? LOL

Just keep with the greens and smoothies and of course fruit. Start trying some new recipes. I HIGHLY recommend trying the recipes from this site. If you haven't joined the Kitchen yet, do that first and look around. Here people share their favorites. They are the tried and true ones that people like. Not all RAW books have great recipes. I have many books but always look here. You are doing great!!

Thank you Jason. Right now, I am having fun with my Smoothies and eating a lot of veggies and some fruit. The Chia pudding was a nice surprise though and later, I'm having some Quinoa with veggies as my lunch.

Yesterday, my daughter's and I had a movie day, so I didn't really eat raw. OMG! I had a headache, my stomach felt blah and I was just tired. It's amazing how much of a difference eating raw is making in my overall feeling of well-being.

I'll look into those recipes, thank you!

Remember instead of flour use almond meal and flax meal..or other nut meal...works wonderfully to make cakes and biscuits and pies etc

Avocados make great egg replacements for mayo and whips....as do soaked nuts like cashew and macadamia...and sunflower seeds...

Squash, zucchini and root vegs make great pasta...

You just need a blender, knife and chopping board and a grater.

Think of the recipes you like and have a bash at reinventing them raw style..look at the recipe section in here and other raw sites theres tonnes of them...its a quick way to eat..not much rep time and easier to clean up after too :)

I can recommend Raw Dawg Rorys book on how to go raw, very easy to understand and packed with recipes..just google raw dawg rory :)

Thank you all so much! I eliminated cows milk a few months ago. The other things shouldn't be hard. And Stephanie, I need to try the chia pudding. I love Chia!

And Justin, thank you for the book recommendations.

Something that I learned as I started on raw was if you can just ADD things instead of DELETING things then one you don't feel deprived and two you eventually push the other BAD things out with GOOD things. Make sense? So my suggestion...go w/ that blender....don't worry about the juicer yet. When I first started down this road a couple yrs ago I simply would ADD 1 quart of GREEN SMOOTHIE every day!! Then in the meantime, find a good cookbook, find things online and experiment w/ simple and easy things you can make w/ few ingredients. one of my staples is chia pudding w/ apples/bananas.

You might start by getting some good "cook books". I have Raw Food Real World and that helped me a lot when I first started. One thing I know for certain, you're in the right place!

Start by eliminating certain food first:

Sugar.... white flour....dairy....meat.....fish....etc....and you'll get to the raw food lifestyle fruits, veggies, nuts and seeds. You will make it especially you are at the right place at RFR!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is absolutely everything for your info about raw food on this site!
