Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
I have been perusing RFR for a while now, but haven't posted a blog yet. What made me decide to write one? My new favorite thing!
After getting in from grocery shopping I started setting up all these things I got to soak. Some wheatberries for rejuvelac, flax seeds for crackers, buckwheat for crunchies, and a few more things. I got so caught up in all the prep work that I didn't realize until just now I was starving! My juice from this morning was long gone and my stomach was rumbling.
As I said, I just went shopping so I had a vast array of choices, too many in fact. I had no idea what to eat, I had too many options to decide on just one thing.
Enter Raw Food Rehab.
I came on and hopped around the kitchen a bit when I came across an avocado yogurt. It had two ingredients and took as long to make as it would to blend it up. Sold.
Of course I couldn't leave well enough alone so I changed it a bit, but what resulted tastes so good I had to share!
What I used:
1 avocado
2 medium bananas
1/2 cup mixed berries (i used a frozen blend)
2 tsp ground flax seed mixed with two Tspn fresh water
drizzle of honey if needed
What I did:
In the food processor blend the avocado and bananas until smooth. Taste. Get super excited.
Add berries and blend again. Realize all that liquid thinned out your yogurt a bit. Take another bite while you decide what to do.
Add flax seed and water as a thickener, and the tiniest drizzle of honey to sweeten it.
Pour in your favorite bowl.
You could probably garnish it with any number of things: nuts, fresh berries, some fresh grated coconut would be good.
I had no time for such things, and gobbled it all down.
Maybe I licked the bowl.
I'm really glad avocados were on sale and that there's a few more in my fruit bowl. I feel like with the avocado/banana base this could be such a versitile recipie, and I'm sure I'll play around with it some more!
Happy not cooking!

Comment by Suze on December 18, 2010 at 11:19pm @ Raven, I ground the flax seeds and then let them sit in the water for maybe two minutes before adding it in. They soak up the water pretty quickly.
@veganforlife, it was your post I saw that inspired this deliciousness. I did get to throw in a few frozen strawberries, but just avocado and fresh strawberries sounds ha-mazing!
@Ayn, it is! try it!
