Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

I bought a juicer about a week ago and have been wanting to try it out. Well today was the day! I got all my ingredients prepared, turned it on and put in my first item, a piece of cucumber. It went through easily, so I thought I'd try a carrot. When I saw that carrot disappear into the top of the juicer and that beautiful orange juice come out of the spout, I was so excited! My juice consisted of carrot, apple, celery, cucumber, spinach, lemon, & ginger. I tried to add some kale, but it didn't work so well in my cheap little juicer (the Black and Decker for $39 from Wal-Mart). But I was soooo happy! I was happy that I didn't have less than a cup of juice because I couldn't afford the large size at the juice bar. I was happy that I could add as many ingredients as I wanted with no "that will cost extra" . And I was happy that I made it myself. After I took that first drink from my big glass of juice, I was doing a happy dance and saying "I made juice! I made juice!" And then I had to laugh, because it made me think of the scene from Castaway where Tom Hanks character says "I have made fire!"

Victoria,

The excitement doesn't go away.  I have been juicing for a few months in addition to my green smoothies.  I smile at my blender full of the beautiful colors from frozen strawberries, bananas, oranges and spinach.  I also love to watch the juice come pouring out of the juicer and want to stick my face under the spout...I can hardly wait for it to finish so I can pour a glass.

I have been loving the following:

grapefruit

orange

apple, carrot, ginger, lemon

tomato, cilantro, bell pepper, cucumber, celery, hot pepper, lemon or lime and just a touch of garlic

pumpkin, sweet potato, carrot, apple, lemon

Have fun!
