Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
I was just diagnosted with Thrombocytopenia. My platelet count is low and prevents my blood from clotting. If anyone has any information to help me to raise my count without the use of Steroids, I would appriciate it. My doctor told me that is not food related and that it would not or could not be cured with juicing or healthy eating habits. He told me that there is not a reason for this condition it just happens. My numbers have been up to 17,000 and then drop to 2000. Normal is around 150,000 or more. I am extremly low and had to be in the hospital a few days to get an infusion. Now I have to go back into the doctors office and get another infusion on Monday. Any advise would be helpful, thanks.

My count today was 142,000 thats good. The doctor said no more pills, at least for now to see how things turn out. I still need 3 more infusion, I hope my numbers stay up. The doctor thinks that thing will level off and my numbers should stay up. I will see in a few weeks what happens.
Comment by Janet dicker on March 6, 2013 at 7:27pm Update: They have me on Steroides and I get weekly infusions of Retuxan every Monday for the next 4 more weeks. My numbers are up to 189,000 now from 2000. The steroides have caused me to gain about 3o plus pounds in the last month or so. I also have a lot of problems sleeping. they are going to start to cut back on the steroids and get me off them all together to see in the infusions are working and can mantain my counts. Time will tell.

Thank you for all the comments. I will try the sesame oil, it sure can't hurt.
Comment by Wanda Cox on February 13, 2013 at 2:55pm Hi Zonahead, my mother's treatment always makes her platelet counts low and she has been taking sesame oil 1 T. morning and at night WITH protein. She also rubs some on her wrists and ankles So far they have been coming back up. I don't know if this will help but wanted to share this information.

Comment by zoann keck on February 13, 2013 at 11:56am Hang in there. I had ITP when I was 15, Eating well is crucial, but I would reccomend following a trusted Dr. through this journey. I had my spleen removed and it did the trick, and no amount of eating right would have fixed it.
Comment by Wanda Cox on February 11, 2013 at 9:10pm Hi Zonahead,
My mother has lung cancer stage IV and she has chemo every two weeks. Her platelet counts have been low and a natural pathic doctor sees her as well. She's always been able to get them back up with some natural supplements. I have emailed her and I will get back to you. I know one thing forsure that has helped her is one teaspoon of sesame oil every morning. Good luck to you. You are in my prayers.
