Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Do you believe we should get more fruits and vegetables into our diet?  Yes?

The USDA says yes, as shown in the updated Food Pyramid, now called My Plate, showing a move towards more fruits and vegetables. The Power Plate from PCRM, agrees with you too!

So why don't people eat more fresh produce? Is it too hard? Time consuming? Expensive? Boring? Does it lack the texture or comfort of other foods? Is it unsatisfying? What would it take to make you fall in love with eating fruits and vegetables?

What if a little preparation and creative presentation would make healthy eating a party every day!   Removing the roadblocks by making it easy, fun, beautiful and delicious may encourage people to add the power of produce to any diet at any age!

RFR is full of amazing recipes and photos that reflect all of these traits.  What favorite ideas would help someone that rarely eats fresh produce and is not currently interested?

Possibly mini taster plates -each person gets one and perhaps feels more encouraged to try just a little bit of something different - with water glass nearby!

Dips do make great party food for anytime! Thanks for the great ideas!

I also just watched Jennifer Cornbleet's youtube video of a pate' that was seed based and higher fat, but served with cru de te. I also watched Megan Elizabeth's youtube videos and can't wait to try her fresh peach and cherry tomato blended salad dressing. Only two ingredients for a creamy, sweet, lowfat dressing!

This lifestyle is incredible!!!!! No end to the possibilities!

p.s. my reply to your post could also go under the category of your prior post on making presentations to the Corporate Wellness folks - anywhere that we have the opportunity to 'respresent' -I say let's RAWK!!

one of the most important factors (in my opinion) in making the conversion to more raw is creating visual interest, beauty, variety and an enticing presentation!

I pulled up a few of my photos here to offer some ideas.

The basket with raw veggies and a red bell pepper dip was created for an art opening of my work - and I drew heavily on a little YouTube video that Michelle K. did on this very concept - you can see that I've got everyday veggies and some greens here all dressed up for a festive time out. People were as intrigued by the food as they were by my art work!

The second photo ( I can't seem to get this formatted to go along side the pix - but you get the idea)

is of the makings for the Macho Taco (Kristina Carrillo Bucarram) before they are assembled - pretty, eh?

and the third photo is an Epic Salad decorated with ribbons (made in spiralizer) of watermelon radish.

Love,
Janet

I love making a healthy, raw dip -- something with garlic, or a red pepper tahini dressing, or pesto, and dipping fresh cucumber slices, celery sticks, or lettuce leaves in. Always fresh and yummy. Also blending a mango to make mango pudding! I also love making romaine wraps filled with crunchy veggies, a squeeze of lemon juice, and sprinkle of spirulina. Lately my favorite snacks are simple, fresh, and veggie-centered!

today I did a raw foods coaching session with a friend who wants to get more fresh fruits and veggies into her daily program. We did an entire meal of raw snacks that were easy, fun, tasty, satisfying and soooooo good!  It takes just a little bit of creativity to put together some combos that delight the eyes and tickle the taste buds, right? But then we here in RFR know this and that's why we love it!

Simply cutting up an apple attracts my family to eat it immediately.
