Real Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

Today is the last day! (Not over but it feels like it!)

After 38 days on my feast it's OVER!

I look forward to solid food, but I'm also kind of sad to see it end in a way. I believe I could have easily did 60 days, but I'm good with the goal I achieved.

I learned a great deal on this feast. For one never think you've settled into a grove because your body can cry out for different nutrients that you just so happen to not be supplying to it.

My advice is add those nutrients long before they become an overwhelming primal urge.

Number one of those for me was protein. I noticed that without the addition of some of the other foods I usually eat raw, like peanuts, beans etc... I was deficient in my protein intake and got some good advice on how to correct that. (Thanks to those who provided my protein intervention)

Another thing I'd do different is not rely so much on fruit juicing for energy. I noticed that I started leaning totally towards fruits at one point and had to wean myself back on veggies about 2 weeks in the fast. (This was difficult because the sugars had messed up my taste buds for green juice... which I love.) For the next couple weeks I'll be green juicing more since I'll now be eating.

Lastly login to RFR and rant when you're feeling like cr@p or even if you are feeling great for that matter! It helps to have advice and old fashioned sympathy especially from those who've done it or those who are fasting with you or just those who want to be inspiring.

I'll be starting a new feast in a few weeks, maybe not as long.

I plan to do one more 30 day feast before I turn 50 in February 2013. (It hurts a little to type that!) :) It was my goal to do one 30 day feast before my B-Day, but I deserve at least one more before the big Five Oh hits!

Keep it fantastically Raw people!

I am in awe of you. I am about to start a 7 day juice fast tomorrow. I am scared as I love food and think about it all day. The no eating is going to be so hard. 7 days would seem like nothing to you.

Can I ask if you have any trouble with your bowels during this time?

I am high raw so my diet is pretty great. The worst thing I eat is natural peanut butter. So I should not get too many bad detox symptoms.

Congrats! I am on day 23 of what was going to be a 60-day juice feast, but I decided to go for 30 days instead. It was rough at times, but worth it.

Keep up the great work!

Congratulations!!!!!! 38 days is a lot! and by the way 50 years old is nothing, it is a great age, probably one of the best! And by doing what you're doing you are slowing down the aging look for 50 as you are going to look like 40!

So happy for you on your accomplishment and lessons learned! Thank you so much for sharing the journey!

I am also 49 and have decided to look at each year as a type of wealth. I survived and often thrived to get to this age, and I am proud of it.

With raw foods, I actually look younger this year than last year!
