Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

interesting beginning to the new year.

HIYA!

I opted to not join Paul Risse and others in this January's cleanse america this time around because I don't want to put a finality to the path I am on - I'm the kind of person who says, oh I'll just do this for 10 days, then I'll only do it for 10 days. This time it is for as long as it feels right.....and even then I will push myself a further. I have no other option but to take care of and honor this 46 yr old body!

I'm a full week back at 100% low fat RAW - I was eating quite healthily beforehand.....but something different is happening to me right now:

  • my quads, hamstrings and calves keep cramping. Deep painful cramps. I don't cramp usually, so this is very weird to me.
  • I'm exhausted. I have the luxery right now to nap whenever so I have been - but I am sleeping a solid deep 9 hours a night and then nodding off mid afternoon. Usually when I am eating like this I sleep less and have lots of energy. Not so, right now. I feel tired alot.
  • My breath is evil. I rinse, I brush, floss and tongue scrape continually but my mouth is thick with crud and all I can taste is funk. Not nice.
  • My left armpit is stinky. Not my right, just my left. I don't wear deoderant because I really have never had BO (except when I PMS and then I use the crystal). I'll take a sauna, steam or shower and my left armpit still is quite acrid smelling.

I can only chalk all this up to detox, but I'm very uncomfortable and, honestly, a little overwhelmed with these new things happening. Today I am upping my water to help flush things out of my system. I think the cramping is what most freaks me out.....I've never heard of this as a detox sympton, so I'm not sure what is going on - but yes, I am getting plenty of potassium and Vit C and magnesium so it's not for the lack of these in my diet. Hmmmm.

Anyway - just checking in. Hope everyone is doing well and feeling great!

Interesting. I'm feeling a bit better today, so am willing to stay this course and see what else of weirdness pops up ;)

Peggy I'm not too sure why either but I just finished watching another video from Dr. Morse regarding detox, and he said you do not want to drink lots of water in an overly acidic body because you will bloat up. I've heard the dangers mentioned before, but back then wasn't paying much attention to the reasoning, but I will next time. He didn't expand on this today, just mentioned the bloating part.

Betty - I'm not familiar with why not to drink alot water when overly acidic? Does your body reabsorb toxins this way?

Peggy please be careful with water, if your body is filled with acid, you do not want to drink tons of water, you are better off getting it from your fruits. The watermelon idea is a great one, watermelon is very good at pulling at your lymph, it's a powerful fruit, and you should definitely feel it working.  Glad to hear you have a naturopath, in case you need a bit of help. Look forward to hearing how you are doing.

Thanks, ladies.

Betty, my intuition says it;s a acid overload/dump into my system.

After all of the holiday eating and festivities I ate only whole foods - cooked foods and raw - for 10 days before going 100 % raw. So with that said, Ali, I have eliminated all cooked foods, which included cooked animal protein, alcohol, all the white stuff, etc......

I am going one more day deeper into this - I'm drinking only watermelon juice and water today to flush my kidneys, and I'll see how I feel tomorrow..... and if I am still with all of these symptoms I am going to the dr. (natropath) and will eat some steamed veggies + soups to slow the detox down.

Thanks for the input. I'll post tomorrow with where I'm at.

Peggy this sounds like detox, when you are raw, especially the more fruit you eat, you will have acids leaving your body. The breath definitely is detox, so is the body odor.  The lack of energy is detox, since when you are purposely trying to detox your body you should be resting, and letting it do it's thing. I don't know what to say about the cramping though....have you had issues with that many years ago? I know that in detox, your body will fix old problems and people are surprised when the old pains come up again.  I almost want to say again, it sounds like an acid problem, but I haven't studied detox enough to be that confident.  If I were you, I would just slow it down a bit, step back, let things calm down and go again. For instance, I would make some steamed veggies just to slow down detox. Then go back to the raw, and just play with it. As long as you are eating food with the life force in it (raw fruits, veggies juiced), you should be ok.   From what I've learned from Dr. Robert Morse, if your kidenys aren't filtering very well, all the built up acids and toxins will start coming out on your skin, your tongue, etx.

Definitely pull back a bit, detox can be very frightening when you are doing it alone.

Hm, sounds unpleasant. Magnesium was my first guess too. Maybe it would be worth it to get a blood test or checked out by a doctor, just to put your mind at rest? I know most doctors don't believe in raw food diets, detoxes, etc. but for diagnostic purposes western medicine can be useful (I find).

That's so interesting Peggy.
I went off my raw "produce" based diet and upped my protien for a one month trial. I after about a week of a higher protien diet I got Charlie horses several times a day, mainly at night that woke me up. I figured it was the acid produced by the extra protien.
Now that I'm plant based with pure protien down to 1 to 2 times a month the cramping has greatly Decreased.

What have you added or eliminated that may be linked to this?

and a new little thing that just started:

  • my tongue has developed large blisters on the sides and back.

NOT at all happy with what is going on, but willing to ride this out in order to detox (I really hope that's what's happening) but if anything else weird happens I might have to reconsider. I'm a physical mess right now LOL.
