Raw Food Rehab

No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

I have been raw for about 4 years now and I have been very pleased with my success. Unfortunately, in the last two months I have been somewhat out of balance. I can't seem to eat enough these days and it is worrying me. My weight has even started to climb rapidly, about 10 pounds. I have been overeating and that's not good. I recently had surgery so I came to the conclusion that it is because my body is healing and it's needing more nutrients. Where as I understand it, I am not happy with it because it can mean big trouble for me. I have a history with compulsive overeating and it resulted in a 50 pound weight gain. Living the raw vegan lifestyle released the 50 pounds of weight and I kept it off until now. Before I get out of hand, I think I need to either fast or Juice feast. Are there any Rehabers fasting or juice feasting right now? I need to reset ASAP. If not, would someone like to start? I think some accountability will help me a lot.

Thank you Mauri and Jazzy, having support from the raw food community really helps.

Wow, you are an inspiration! I was 50 lbs overweight too, and lost it on weight watchers 5 years ago. And slowly, 10 lbs a year, it's all back, plus an extra 10! Interesting to see that going raw has worked so well for you (and many others). Way to be on top of it, and catching it before it gets out of hand. Good luck on your feast!

love the fact you started your juice feast at dinner - you are right, any time is the right time!

Thanks Marjorie,
Surgery is quite a big hit and I was putting so much pressure on myself to get back to normal, I lost sight of myself. I sucessfuly completed 92 days on the Global Juice Feast in 2008 and I felt fantastic. I'm looking forward to feeling that way again.

Thank you Jackie, Wrenn, Susan and Eunice,
Your support, advice and suggestions are blessings. I actually started the juice feast last night.
My dinner was 32 ounces green juice. The thing I learned is anytime is the right time. I didn't need to wait until morning to start or to wait and start with someone. It all begins with me. Sharing with all of you gave me a different perspective. HUG!!!

Be kind and loving to yourself...surgery is a big hit to your body but you aredefinitely on the right track with juicing for extra nutrition and smoothies for extra fiber which helps with weight. I need to start a juice feast soon, count me in!

What works for my overeating is 1-2 quarts of green smoothies. Spinach/kale/collard leaves, orange, and banana. Juice Feasting will probably be the best way for recovery though. Also Barley Max from www.hacres.com is what I take when I'm not feeling well or recovering from an ailment. Best of luck!

I agree, I think the juice feasting would be very good for your body to help heal itself right now. Good for you for sticking to 100% raw...I am learning myself that that is best for me or as close to it as I can be anyway. Hang in there and I hope you heal quickly and the discomfort passes very soon. I will say a prayer for you right now!
