Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
Although I have been drinking green smoothies and juices for years, and still do, I got clear yesterday, in my studies, how certain greens have high oxalic acid.
This affects our bone density as well as our teeth! I realized that this is the root of my teeth challenges since going raw.
Although I varied my greens, at times I did get a lot of spinach, swiss chard and beet greens as well as parsley.
Oxalic acid has benefits and as always, balance is key in what works for your own body!
Here are some foods high in oxalic acid and low as well.
HIGH OXALIC ACID CONTENT:
Lambsquarters, beet leaves, purslane leaves, spinach, swiss chard (leaves & stalks), rhubarb, parsley, amaranth leaves, sorrel.
LOW OXALIC ACID CONTENT:
Dandelion greens, most fruits, kale, watercress, escarole, mustard greens, turnip greens, kale, broccoli, tomatoes, asparagus, cabbage, and most greens not mentioned.
Remember to ROTATE YOUR GREENS!
Much love from my healthy teeth loving heART to yours! Muah, Bette Bliss

YAY Maureen! Green jackets rawk! <3
Good info Bette and about the tumeric. Do you know you can peel it with a teaspoon? And apparently put it in freezer when its out of season. I got my fave green jacket goin' on too! Just thought the other day that I think green is now my fave color. It was my Mum's too -she had a gorgeous greygreen wedding dress in the 40's. Cheers all.
Thank you Janet, I do juice tumeric and drink it in my juice. I also knew about the use on the gums and teeth. It is anti inflamm but my challenge has been my teeth deteriorating since I went raw...fast!
Love your green going on! You got it going on girl!
thanks for the info!

thanks for sharing this info Bette - here's a photo of me and my green smoothie and my green jacket and my green car .... do we see a trend here?
btw - I learned that chewing on turmeric root is very beneficial for the teeth and gums - I have some in my fridge and about 3xs a week I peel it, take a little dime-sized slice, chew until it's liquified and down the hatch. Since this little gem is so beneficial - anti-inflammatory and such - it is now part of my routine.
CHEERS~!
