I have been thinking lately about doing a green smoothie feast. The more I add these smoothies into my daily life, the more that I feel convinced that I can do this, because I just love them. I am mostly writing this in blog format in hopes that I will find others here who have done this kind of feast. I'm not really sure where to find the best info on how to go about doing this sort of feast properly so that I get the right amount of nutrition.

Long ago, I read that it's important to switch around what greens you eat instead of eating the same kind daily. I do like several kinds of greens so that shouldn't be much trouble, but I'm wondering if anyone knows how much of an issue it really is to do that?

Also, for anyone who has done a green smoothie feast, what kind of success did you have with it?  Does anyone want to do one with me?  I will be starting next week. I have to do it while I'm ready or it will take longer for it to happen. I'm sure there are many of you who know how that is.

We are having a cold wave and I am from the west, the "nice weather side" of Canada!!! So I will put bananas in my smoothies and sometimes avocados to keep me warm!

I am having some water with lemon right and then a green smoothie. I will do it a week only (too cold winter to do more for me) thank you for the motivation I needed it!!!!!

Great Nathalie! I have to start mine Tuesday or Monday evening. I have to wait until I could afford to go to the store. I've not set a specific length of time but we can do at least, one week together. Yes, only green smoothies all day! Thanks for taking the challenge with me! :)

Hello Kathleen,

I will do a week of green smoothies with you. Starting tomorrow, Monday morning!

(so to be exact: we only have green smoothies all day for a week?)

It is a good idea, juices only for me are too hard as I work away from my home and cannot make any juices and so I get hungry and give up...as smoothies, you can take them with you!!!! Great and thanks for the idea!

Heather, you are the one that made me start thinking about doing a feast. I read how well you're doing at the Upgraded Eats facebook group and it made me think about how easily I could do a green smoothie one. I've told myself many times that I could live off of them. Do you have any fruit suggestions to go with the greens?  I've tried many, but I always welcome more suggestions.

Again. congratulations on how well you're doing with your juice feast!

I have done a green smoothie feast and I loved it!  It was way cheaper and easier than a juice feast.  I got to have fruit (when I juice I only juice veggies and greens) and I love that it gets your mind off food and out of the kitchen.  You take 15 min in the a.m., make your smoothies, and you're done for the day.  I think that is great for compulsive eaters who tend to obesess about food, even healthy food.  I think the fiber is great for you and the greens make you feel amazing.  I am on a juice feast now but later I am going to switch to green smoothies!

I'm excited about this too, Penni!

Thanks for your suggestions. I do need to look in the Liquid Lounge again.  I love lots of greens in my smoothies so I'm good on that one. I remember when I first started drinking green smoothies I would put just a tiny handful in there. Ha!

This is exciting, Kathleen!

I haven't organized our Liquid Lounge in awhile - but there are some great resources there for you.

The most important thing is that you stay full and drink enough so you don't start craving food. The more greens you add in the more you will be mineralized and that will also help to keep cravings at bay.

I personally think adding some good plant-based proteins like hemp seeds and nut/seed milks are really supportive to your system. Also an occasional avocado (maybe use 1/3 to 1/2) will add satisfying creaminess and healthy fats for you to help you feel full and nourished.
