Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

For the past few weeks I have been participating in a billards tournament to win a chance at going to Las Vegas to play in the National Tournament with my team mates.  This is the first time since 1996 I have been able to play and make it to my districts tournament in over 8 years.  We (my team) had a really good shot at winning it.

I was unprepared food wise as we had little to no room to pack a cooler.  The trunk was filled with cases upon cases of pool sticks.  Also the establishment we were competing at had a very strict rule about no food or drink brought into it (because they were selling food and wanted to make a profit which is understandable).  However the only "Vegetarian" option they had were fried mushrooms.  These mushrooms were being cooked in the same vat of oil as the mozzarella sticks, chicken egg rolls, mini tacos, etc.  So least to say, I was not going to be eating there.  I did spend the first weekend eating a bag of apples that I was able to fit into the car.  I have also discovered that I like cold apples over hot ones.

This place did not even offer the plain "salad" plates that most restaurants even have lettuce, tomato, a piece of cucumber, nothing!  For the second weekend we were playing there for the 8 ball tournament, we noticed that there would be a small break in the mid afternoon for a chance to escape and go eat somewhere else.  I scoured the internet to find a place to eat.  I was able to find a place that offerred Vegetarian but not necessarily raw options.  They did however offer a larger arrange of salads and was able to eat something I knew would benefit me and my health.

This experience led me to make sure that I sign up and provide feedback on the various websites that talk about Vegetarian, Vegan, and even Raw options.

Could this be a possible future option for the RFR to have a Room of its own that we could provide restaurant reviews?    That way if someone is traveling to a specific area they would be able to look it up and see either positive or negative reviews?  Just a thought...

I do know from this experience I do need to prepare better food wise for trips.  I am getting ready to go to Wyoming and only know of the grocery store that I will be able to eat at. LOL  Where we are going is not a large city and will most likely have to bring our own food in.  Majority of the restaurants in the area provide steak with a side of steak if you get my meaning....

Have a great day today!
