Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
I have travelled this journey for what seems like FOREVER. Up and down. See my previous posts, I won't rehash it all here. This is a blog post of CELEBRATION!
I finally realized....somewhere deep inside me...that "raw vegan" is a lifestyle, BUT, I don't have to be 100%, 100% of the time!!!! The last few days (9 days to be exact) I have stayed "mostly raw". I have eaten 100% raw at home, as long as it does not make me miserable. For instance, there are occasions that I am so wrapped up in preparing my family's dinner, I forget about myself. The last 9 days I have focussed on eating a simple dinner. Last night was simple guacamole in a lettuce wrap. Later, when I was hungry, I grabbed some kimchi (instead of a high fat snack). I am looking for lower fat items to snack on like fruits or high fruit/green smoothies with a small amount of fat. I am trying not to worry about it so much.
My family had a huge birthday party, a Quinceanera, to go to and there was NOTHING raw insight. I had a wonderful Spanish rice, some spicy pinto bean soup, and some noodle dish that had some sliced peppers and such in it. I enjoyed my meal, really enjoyed it...and decided to eat a small portion and not beat myself up. WHO CARES, really if I at a non-raw meal???? Why in the world, all these years, have I put such pressure on myself. NOW, that being said, I know that the MORE RAW I am....THE BETTER I FEEL.
Also, the last 9 days I started a new workout program. I have "Turbo Fire" from beachbody.com, and I LOVE her program. It is high-intensity, high cardio (but the workouts so far are not that long!)....I have already lost a few inches just in my hips (AMAZING) and I am losing weight, but the HUGE bonus is losing the inches and having MORE ENERGY!!!!
THE KEY TO AWESOME HEALTH IS DIET AND EXERCISE!!! WOOOO-HOOOOOO!!!

Hi Wendi, I love reading about your insights into blending eating with family and social events. It's so interesting how these revelations come to us about the best ways to care for ourselves. Good stuff!

Comment by Supermom on July 17, 2012 at 11:00pm Right on Wendi!! I love the idea of intuitive eating.
I believe you are right about diet and exercise. Imagine a race car with the best fuel in it, sitting in a garage unused.
Congratulations!
WTG Wendi!
