No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!
I can't believe the wonderful weekend that I just had.
I started off by driving to this event on Friday. The Inn at the Mountain is located in Welches, OR by Mt. Hood. I drove up there from Albany which is a little over 1oo miles driving the back roads. I can't believe how serene the drive was. The road I was on had waterfalls and streams that cascaded just within sight. The beautiful trees with their moss hanging down.
When I arrive it is still very early and not yet time for the event to begin, so I checked into my room and unpacked my bags. Now you have to know that if I travel I bring anything that I think that I will need, so I had my travel blender, my cutting knife and board, along with my supply of fruit and snacks that I may need for the weekend. I took pictures of my room cause I was so excited!
Then I meandered over to the site where Explore Raw Vitality was being held. The Inn has a walking path that you can use to get everywhere on the grounds. I passed this great waterfall and then there I was! The view was astounding. I was still very early so I checked in and wandered around a little. The people are so friendly. I was sitting on a sofa next to the fireplace and a beautiful woman named Joan asked if I was going to go to the yoga class that was starting soon, as I had never been to a yoga class I hesitated to go thinking that I would stand out as not knowing what to do and looking like an idiot. Well I told myself that there always has to be a first time for everything, so I went into the class. BiBi was our instructor and she is such a beautiful soul, she made me feel warm and welcome. Needless to say this was a great experience! I now think that I am hooked on yoga. And to think that if I hadn't made the choice to overcome my fears I never would have gone.
That was just the beginning of the event. Next I attended a workshop "The Why and How of Raw" given by the energetic Tashi Rana. Followed by the beautiful and talented Kendra Carpenter "Tuning your Human Instrument with Sound Healing", Stephen Bailey, ND gave a wonderful talk on " Raw Food and Juicing - A Doctor's Perspective" which I found very inspiring. I bought his book Juice Alive -The Ultimate Guide to Juicing Remedies. His daughter, who is about 12 years old was such a joy. She was outside playing in the snow and just loving life.
Next I attended "Acupuncture for Detox" by Michelle Whittaker. I was so intrigued with her talk that I later had her do acupuncture on me. What a great time.
I then listened to Thomas Chavez, a warm and loving individual who talked on "Diet As a Foundation For Mental, Emotional and Spiritual Healing".
Wow, all this in one day! This was just the preview to what would be a highlight of the day - a wonderfully luscious dinner with music and Belly Dancing, and to top it all of a talk given by Dave the Raw Trucker and Tresa BE Grace. Dave has give Tresa a moniker that really fits her. She is truly Beauty, Elegance and Grace. And Dave is a genuine down to earth guy with a great sense of humor. We enjoyed a wonderful meal in great company with beautiful humans who shine with love and caring.
I went back to my room that night with all of my books that I purchased and sat down to read them. Besides the Juice Alive book I purchased Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko, and a book by Gabrielle Chavez called The Raw Food Gourmet. I met Gabrielle and sat with her and her husband Thomas for dinner that night. They were the organizers for the event and they are both such warm and beautiful people. I felt honored to be sitting with them. I also really love her book and would recommend this book for those who are just getting started in raw to those who have been doing raw for awhile.
Well time is going to fast for me this morning and I have to get ready for work. More later....
