Elliott Goes to Camp Daniel today!!!!

Camp Daniel is a special needs week camp. It is about an hour from our home.

This year's theme is God makes us grow!

Elliott and Mommy made these necklaces to wear when we are apart!

Got the beads and the luggage tags from the $ store!

The van is packed to full and overflowing! Amazing the things we use in a week...extra clothes, bedding, portable potty chair, running stroller, Green Smoothies made ahead for 3 days and all the GREENS, fruit, etc for more during the week...

Judy Boehmke is a great raw food chef and is also 100% raw like Elliott is and knows all about his special diet and will be preparing their food, in addition to being his counselor. She knows him well and I know that they will have fun together and this first long time (a whole week!!) away from home will be with great ease! This also eases my mind!!

The camp has many theme meals during the week:

They have food that coordinates with each meal...Elliott will, of course, bring his Green Smoothies!

Campers and staff alike dress up for each meal and the music appropriate for the theme is blasting!

Cowboys (Elliott will take his Woody doll and wear his Woody shirt)

Pirates (He is taking his treasure chest with treasure map, jewels, etc.)

Christmas (Santa hat)

Tailgate party (Green Bay Packer t shirt)

Mexican Fiesta

50's (sunglasses and white t shirt)

Formal night on Friday when everyone gets to walk the red carpet to the Talent Show Awards!

I am sending the camera so Judy can take lots of pics! I will share them with you when they return home!

This is the song that Judy and Elliott will sing for the talent show at camp.

They will do this on the Christmas theme day! Elliott has the lalalalala's down pat!

I hope they win!!

Georgie is a puppet who talks with the kids during chapel every day.

He even has his own show around the campfire every night!

Move over David Letterman!!!

It will seem oddly quiet with Elliott away from home. : )

I will miss him!

I know he will come home ALL GROWN UP!

It is a place for people to understand, maybe for the first time that God loves them, God made them, and God has a plan for their lives.

Comment by Susan : ) on August 11, 2012 at 9:16pm: I went to Camp at 9am to pick up Elliott...Packing him up and saying goodbye to all his new friends...we didn't leave Camp for awhile! : ) Got home and unloaded the van, started a load of laundry and unpacked for about 1 1/2 hours....Downloaded pics from camera. Went to Walmart to print pics out...

Josiah, Amy and River stopped by earlier this evening...to give Elliott his birthday gift! A hoops and yoyo musical card and some $$$...He is thrilled!

Tomorrow is his birthday and we have big things planned!

This Mom is tired and Elliott is drifting off to sleep....I am going to fold Elliott's week's worth of laundry and then go to sleep! : )

Our Grandma (my MIL) who lives with us will be 100 in September. When she was 90 we gave her 90 fresh roses set out in oasis in pots which she loved. This time we are thinking we'll set up 100 candles of all shapes and sizes in the shape of a heart with some flowery things around it. Then light them when everyone comes for afternoon tea. Any other good ideas are welcome!
