No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!
Hey there fellow 'habbers!
I was recently doing some research in matters regarding dental health and raw/vegan diets and came across some information that was totally new to me and thought it was well worth sharing.
I've found that many people assume that it is simply the sugar and acid that wreak havoc on vegans/raw vegans' teeth. While they may put some wear on them, that's not quite the whole picture. I was reading about the dental health trio - Vitamin A, Vitamin D and Vitamin K2 (not to be mistaken for K1 found in leafy greens). I had never heard of K2 but find the info on it interesting. This is normally found in animal products though it can also be attained through natto (fermented soybean product popular in Japan). It is also said that we can convert K1 to K2. (Just another of many reasons to get your Greens!)
Some material recommends supplementing (though not the first choice) if you can't get it from natto or would rather not get it from animal products. The material I was reading also said we can get it from heavily fermented foods but the info I found was a bit vague on the efficiency of doing so. (So, if you find anything on it, please share).
Anyhow, I found this interesting and worth sharing with others, who like me just love their raw foods. Hate to see some start having problems with their teeth and totally ditch a raw food diet because of lack of information or misunderstanding. We all know that these foods are the healthiest foundation we can have and I hope you all are empowered with the abundance of resources and information available to help you on this journey to being your healthiest ever!
