Day 4 of 30 I need suggestions and Ideas.

Good morning all it is day 4 of 30. I spent the last 3 days switching over to raw eating. 85 % raw fruits & veggies. I want to start a green smoothie cleanse today. I mostly like spinach and kale. My normal smoothie is
2 cups of spinach
1 frozen banana
1 cup of strawberries
1 stevia

I repeat this about 4 times a day just changing the type of berries. I am not sure if this is enough nutrition. There is no protein for 30 days. So my question is what does a green smoothie cleanse daily intake look like and is my body getting all it needs? Lastly, I am a walker 1-3 miles per day light to moderate speed. Can I continue to walk?

I need suggestions and Ideas.

Hello, Andrea:

I found adding homemade nut milks to green smoothies kept me more satisfied and helped my energy level when I was walking every day.  I use liquid Stevia in most of my green smoothies.  But if my energy level needs a little boost before walking, I found using a little raw honey instead of the Stevia helped me with endurance.

Garden of Life has very high heavy metals in them per natural health ranger.  He had them tested.  I would encourage you to compare different different lab tests on his site to find one with safer levels.  I like sunwarrior, but I don't remember if he had it tested.

Congratulations on getting to day 4 !!!

I have been juicing since the start of January and i would say to stay motivated i have mixed it up a bit, one juice i love for a break that is quick and easy is apple, carrot, lemon and ginger. As you are juicing try also adding things like broccoli juiced to your main juice or kale. I don't buy the meal protein, i do add hemp seed to the juices and it would also help you to add 1/4 avocado blended into one or two juices a day to give you some oil :)

Keep going!!

OH! also, there is a wonderful company called GARDEN OF LIFE that makes a couple of different lines of products called RAW MEALS and RAW PROTEIN. They can be pricey. I get them at Whole Foods for around 36.99 a box. They come in plain, vanilla, chocolate, and coffee flavors. Right now they are having a sale until the 11th at my store for about 25.00 with the purchase of a 1/2 pint of blueberries. Plus, the lady in the supplement isle had an additional $5 off coupon that she gave me for each can. The blueberries plus the two huge cans was less than $48. And, these will last a while.

Hey Andrea, EVERYTHING HippyDaisyChick said is right on point.  Also, as far as continuing to enjoy your morning  cup of coffee... I was a coffee addict too.  But when I started juicing, I found that I really didn't need the coffee anymore.  Looking back (that's funny because its only been a few weeks) it seems that my morning coffee routine was more of a habit than anything else.  Habits - especially bad ones - can be broken.  I urge you to replace that morning cup of coffee with a fresh juice, water, tea or "Dandy Blend".

While there is nothing in it to indicate that it helps to kick the coffee habit, it might be worth trying.  It contains 6 carrots, 1 handful of parsley & 2 cloves of garlic.  Wrap the garlic in the parsley before feeding it into the juicer. This helps absorb some of the garlic odor.  Its only 92 calories, contains no caffeine, and the health benefits are wonderful!

Hey Andrea, you will be getting lots of protein from kale. If you think you need more protein, consider adding chia seeds, or hemp seeds to your juices or smoothies. Also, if you are going to enjoy a "cup of joe" in the morning, you might think about decaf, or looking into a product called "Dandy Blend" that you can order online. It is made with chickory and dandelions and some other things I can't remember at the moment, but it has a taste similar to coffee that will help keep your caffein  to a  minimum. Transitioning over to raw foods can be fun but also a challenge. Caffein made it hard for me, so I stayed clear of it for a while and then if I drink it now, it is decaf. Also, I found it helpful to eat more veggies than fruits. And, if I wanted to sweeten my juices or smoothies I just used apple or even lemon.
