There was an exercise on youtube that I saw that worked for a person I know. It has to do with holding a towel in both hands and pulling outward (I think, it's been awhile) a % of your full strength. It worked for them. Try searching blood pressure resistance exercise or exercise, hopefully will find it. His bp really came down when he started doing smoothies daily, and ate less processed foods.
My mom was on an herbal formula for years and it kept her steady. When she had lymes and went to the hospital, docs insisted on bp meds. She hasnt gotten back to the herbs yet.
Blood pressure isnt simply about food, diet, weight, or sodium.
One must consider the whole of you and see what else is going on.
There are many other areas of life that I look at with my clients to get straight to the source of the concern and bring about balance.
Maybe some self nurturance and support around taking better care of YOU will be effective. May women care for everyone else and never get to themselves.
Balance in these areas, balances the body. Amazing bodies we have, as it always seeks homestasis, balanced health.
Interesting that you bring up this topic as I have been pondering it recently due to my own experiences. My blood pressure and pulse have always been normal despite weight gain, although in recent months it has gone up. We have a blood pressure machine at home and so I have been checking it more frequently as a sort of research project. One Sunday afternoon it was around 145/92 and my pulse was 84! wow.
Within one week of not eating processed carbs (pasta, pizza, tortillas...etc.) it went to 119/79 and my pulse was 69.
I see a difference in blood pressure immediately based on whether or not I've eaten carb and salt laden foods, and most processed carbs also have a lot of salt in the way we prepare them.
I've worked as a chiropractor for 28 years and so many of my patients are on blood pressure medications that they've been on for years and will probably take for the rest of their life because they have been brainwashed to think they are some sort of answer. Amazing, when looking at this with myself and my husband, blood pressure fluctuates Daily! Hope this helps. ;)
