Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

For the past few years now my mum and I have joined the many people who find themselves a motivational 'word for the year'. At the end of each year we evaluate what we have done, what we wanted to do, how we ourselves can change to benefit ourselves those around us, our environment and how we can apply these changes into the new year. To simplify our goals and how we see ourselves we choose one word which acts to signify and remind us of our goals and who we aim to be over the coming year and also to inspire us and keep us going no matter what we are faced with. After much thought and discussion I have found my word... Bloom :)

Bloom is the flower of a plant, a condition or time of vigor, freshness and beauty, to shine and glow, to grow or flourish with youth and vigor or to appear or expand suddenly - the prime of life.

In 2013 i am ready to take on more to become who i was born to be, i am not letting anything stop me from moving forward, no fear, no lack of self confidence, no hint of impossibility, i will move further than i have ever before and quite simply i am ready to bloom! There is no time like the present, throughout the past we learn from our trials, happiness, success and of course mistakes and use these to create new experiences and to move forward. I encourage you to have a look at your life as i do with mine and take the time to reflect on the aspects of your own life which you wish to work upon, but don't simply reflect but DO.

Remember the only failure is not to try, you do not know if you don't try and the only impossible is that which we place in our mind. We are the creators of our own past, present and future by making the most out of what we are given and all that we can be....

life, advice, inspirational, beautiful, mulan

I am still a bud feeding my body and soul in more ways than one but slow and steady i am opening up, i am blooming to bring forth a new prime in my life. And what better way to help me bloom than to feed my body and and soul with wonderful nutritious and rawesome raw foods! 2013... bring it on :)

What will your word be for 2013?

“The thought manifests as the word;

The word manifests as the deed;

The deed develops into habit;

And habit hardens into character.

So watch the thought and its way with care,

And let it spring from love

Born out of concern for all beings”. The Buddha

Hi again. Forgot to say I have started using "I get to" as well.

Now -that's a challenge ! :)

I love those words :) I cannot tell you how much positivity and optimism means to me too, it is amazing how much of a difference you can make in your life and the life of those around you when you think of the positive. It sounds like yesterday was one of your first trials for the year with your new word and you used it well!!

'I get to' is wonderful to realise what you have in life, it helps you stop to think and appreciate everything around you, i'm going to use that to realise everything is a gift too thank you :) plus i may be a little odd but i find doing the dishes therapeutic at times ;)

My mums word is nurture, to nurture herself and her health, her beliefs, her hobbies, family and friends, she puts in so much for others but 2013 is going to be her year to find more time to herself too :)

I love your replies thanks for sharing!

Going with POSITIVITY this year

 -amongst the chaos/challenges and negativity that arise, I need to remind myself to always go toward the positive. Acknowledge my upset-yes, and then move on... ..

Yesterday was a prime example. I had 3 separate difficult and emotionally demanding situations to deal with one after the other and I could feel myself getting really stressed. I thought about my word and used it  a bit like a mantra or a key perhaps, to open the right door in my thinking and feeling. It helped a lot and I'm doing it again today.

Think I have a new healthy habit! Enjoyed your post a lot Janelle, thank you.

This past year I learned to say " I GET To" rather than "I Have to".

That little difference reminded me that tasks I may not enjoy doing are a gift. The outcome  is a privilege to be able to work for. Example: "I have to do the dishes." becomes "I get to do the dishes." I am alive; own dishes; have a sink to wash dishes in;  enjoyed eating food off of the dishes; and will enjoy having clean dishes to use later!

FEEL.

Rather than goals, I plan to focus on how I want to FEEL. Example: accepting, free, light, open, peaceful, connected, loving, strong, safe, secure, centered, flowing, present, warm, excited, prepared, confident, and interested.

Aligning daily choices with the outcome I desire to FEEL is personal, intrinsic, and motivating.

My thanks to Danielle LaPorte for suggesting this concept.
