Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Hi,

So this year my new year’s resolution was to make 1 simple change each month to move from a meat & processed foods diet, towards a raw vegan lifestyle.

I started January with green smoothies each morning, (after a recommendation on Better Raw amazing YouTube videos!) which I kept up until Monday when I started a new job. By the end of this week I was feeling sluggish, my digestion was all mixed up, all my acne had come back, and I started craving loads more chocolate again. I’m actually really glad this happened because its’ really highlighted the difference a green smoothie a day makes to my life! Got back on them yesterday and ready for the week ahead!

Can anyone recommend a simple change I can add to my routine from the beginning of Feb? I have begun to eat about 70% vegetarian, which is the right amount for me at the moment. I’m looking at something to add to my diet/ a simple change to make which will hopefully make a big difference.

Thanks! K xx

Thanks guys!!!

Im really considering the milk and dairy thing- just waiting to find out how easy almond milk or similar is to obtain/make in Asia (as im moving there in May). I have really cut down on my dairy intake since I discovered raw, been drinking lots of green tea with lemon rather than the good old British stuff!, and i actually dont mind it!

thanks Mary, so happy I found this site, everyone is great! hope I will be able to be as helpful for people when I know a bit more!

Just wanted to pop in, Kirstie, and say welcome and congratulations on beginning to put more raw living foods into your eating plan.  It has made the world of difference to my health, energy, fitness, and weight since I began several years ago.  No suggestions as you have plenty here ... just a big welcome!

You mentioned acne so you may want to try giving up or reducing cow dairy and see how you feel. Many people find their skin clears up after giving up dairy. Some good alternatives are unsweetened almond/coconut/hemp milk, or you can make your own! Cashew milk is really easy. There are also lots of recipes online for nut cheeses if you're feeling adventurous. Good luck! I love that you're taking a gradual approach, I think it's good to allow your body and life to adjust. It's what I did.  :)

One simple change could be the addition of a kale salad with lemon, olive oil, garlic, and salt dressing, and you could change it up with an avocado dressing (I can't eat them, but my friend loves them). Although I am currently not working, I work bettter with a routine when it comes to raw foods.  One of the things I do is pick one day of the week to make certain raw foods that I can take to work easily (crackers, raw snacks, raw hummus, raw cinnamon rolls, etc.).  The other thing I do is juice every other day creating a few bottles for those days.   I drink almond milk with a smidge of cacao, which I also take with me to work.   Good luck!

I find that it works better for me to focus on adding more fruits, veggies and raw sweets/treats into my diet instead of focusing on what I am cutting out of my diet. Maybe you could try and have a raw soup or salad each day for lunch.

Add fruits and veggies as much as you can, get rid of white sugar and white four (that is to my point of view the most important thing to get rid of in anybody's whatever diet) when you get rid of those 2 you get rid of a huge amount of bad stuff. I We don't know what you everyday way of eating is so it is hard to say to someone to do something but white-flour-W sugar is the main beginning! and more veggies and more fruits.
