Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

I was reading an O Magazine the other day and out of the whole magazine a small paragraph stuck with me. So much so that I started to research some more about it.

Did you know that an odd behavioural trait of the North American Bison (buffalo) is to stand and face into a storm and rather than seeking shelter or turning away they actually run into it? Turns out that with the thickest part of their coat being at the front and their massive head and shoulders to block the wind, this stance helps to protect their core temperature. I have heard the phrase "like a buffalo in a snow storm" and I guess it means facing a challenge head-on rather than shying away or turning your back.

In the article Donna Brazile, a political commentator and campaign strategist says that one of the smartest pieces of advice she ever got was:

To Become The Buffalo!

From the article:

“Wilma Mankiller, the first female principal chief of the Cherokee nation, once told me how the cow runs away from the storm while the buffalo charges directly toward it—and gets through it quicker. Whenever I’m confronted with a tough challenge, I do not prolong the torment. I become the buffalo.”

How many storms do we see brewing in our lives and how do we react? Whether it's a challenge that we find daunting or an issue we have procrastinated over for days, months, maybe even years.

When you are faced with a challenge, which are you?

the cow or the buffalo?

Become The Buffalo!!
