No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!

... and I am still a cooked food addict - Vault Day 14 of 77 and Day 21 of 21 with No Eating after 5:00 p.m.

Hi, my name is Patricia and I am still a cooked food addict... as I'm not willing to live with that label, I continue transitioning to a raw foods lifestyle... I only lost .6 lbs. this last week... so, am in process of assessing the changes I need to make... what works and what doesn't... not discouraged at all... the quality and longevity of my life depends on this.

Not eating after 5:00 p.m. is now part of my raw foods lifestyle... my intention is that when I do eat after 5:00, it be as early as possible, as infrequently as possible... watched so many of Paul Nison's videos on YouTube that by the time I got his book, I wasn't in the mood to read it... think it's time to see what he says regarding the next step.

My new 21-day initiative is (drum-roll):

For 21 days, I will not go to any coffee-house by myself and if I go with someone else, I will drink only water or caffeine-free tea (which I don't care for) with no sweetener. I have been going to coffee houses for 15 years, often twice a day... half of the pleasure is in the ritual (they know me by name and what I drink, after all) and half is the mega amounts of sugar in the drinks I like... when first trying to figure out what my next 21-day initiative would be, I didn't think I could give up my coffee-house ambiance and sugar fix, but now I know I'm ready.

Joy and Blessings to us all on our raw foods journey!

way to go - this will be a huge step forward for you! I used to drink tons of coffee (worked at Starbucks briefly) and now I never have it. So much better that way :)

I made it a point to stop at Barnes and Nobles ever chance I could get and have a Grand latte. The sugar and milk rush was what I wanted. Well I have been off of caffien for over 8 months!! WOW.Oh and that latte always led to the cheesecake!!
I can now go in there and have a peppermint tea (caffiene Free). Is it raw NO is it satisfying Yes. Does it serve it's purpose yes.

This is so cool how you are doing this, Patricia. I, too, really think the breaking things into smaller goals is a great idea.

Good for you, Patricia!

Oh, Patricia! I just LOVE how you have broken this up into managable goals. I am going to use this approach for myself. I tend to lean toward all or nothing behavior, and I am tring to release that thinking. This is going to help me do that. Sending you so much love today. xoxo ~Colleen~

I totally hear ya on the coffeehouses! I'm also a regular (at several), because I like to use the space to write. For the initial transition to raw, I've decided to avoid them for a while. I set up a corner of my living to be my new special writing area. And I've been drinking caffeine-free herbal tea (Bengal Spice and Lemon Ginger are my favorites) at home, too, with the intention of switching to it when I do eventually return to a coffeehouse. Good luck! I know it's tough, but your 21-day initiatives are a really smart way to tackle challenges, I think.

I agree, setting goals is a great idea! I am going to set some "21 day goals" ala Patricia! My 1st one drink at least 75 oz water per day. I do not drink enough and you have motivated me to work on this. Have a wonderful Sunday and good luck with your 21 days!

Dear Patricia, I have been reading your blog and I am in awe of what you have achieved so far. I think setting yourself goals and then working at sticking to them is admirable. I am going to give this a try too. Thank you for your blog and good luck - you can do this.
