Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Sometime around May 1st (about 2-3 weeks into my new 811 diet) I took my fasting blood sugar reading... it was 101 which is barely pre-diabetic, but still I was a bit surprised. I really thought my number should have been spot on- which is anything less than 85. 85-100 is pre pre-diabetic, 100-115 is pre-diabetic, 126 and above is diabetic. I have been eating "raw" for just over a year... but my diet was becoming very high in raw junk- lots of seeds and nuts (flax crackers, nut pate's and cheeses, chocolates made with cacao and coconut oil, noritos... where's the fruit and veggies??? Okay- a large kale salad every once in a while buried under creamy garlic dressing made with cashews! Did you know that the average raw foodist's diet can be as high as 70% fat???!!! Twice as high as the Standard American Diet!!!!! If I wasn't there, then I was pretty darn close!) I'm so glad I took that blood sugar reading back in May- now wished I had taken it before starting 811, but 2-3 weeks in isn't bad.

I thought to take it again June 1st, just to see if there was any change... but I've been forgetting every morning for 2 weeks! lol Last night I put my glucometer with my glasses so I couldn't forget.... this morning's reading? drum roll please......

84!!!!!!! WOOHOO!!! NORMAL!! (when have I ever been normal, hahaha!) I am ecstatic!!! It works- it really works!! Clearing the fat out of your system, getting it unclogged and all cleaned up allows your insulin and insulin receptors to function properly. I went from pre-diabetic to normal in 6 short weeks! WOW! :)

Have a great weekend everyone- Go Fruit Yourselves!! :)

Excellent Michelle! I so wish I had more experience with diabetes. I know I read or heard somewhere that fruit does NOT require insulin to be received into the cell, but when my husband asked me to find it- I could not :( I did find something on wikipedia that said it though. HOWEVER, if your cells are coated and clogged with fat the sugar from fruit will still pool in the blood creating high blood sugar!! So I agree that caution needs to be exercised. Dr. Graham did say it takes about 3-4 weeks for the fat to start to clear. I think a lot of exercise would help especially in the beginning. Good luck! Please keep us posted as you go- your results could really help a lot of people. I am very interested how this works for you!

I have just finished the book about a week ago.  I am  doing Cleanse America and was going to eat 811 during this.  I am diabetic.  Fruit and insulin are tricky.  Fruit spikes blood sugar, but also exits the system quickly so it has been all too easy for me to take too much, or not enough.  I haven't been following it enough to really give my body teh chance to be free from fat in my blood stream.  As I said I am working up to Cleasnse America on Wednesday.

KFC!! omg... chicken dripping with grease that's been battered with MSG!! ACK!! The last time I had a piece of that... ugh! led in my stomach- I couldn't even finish one piece- and that's when I was eating SAD too!! I know someone who eats there everyday- he's nearly dead! so sick, on so many medications... they should hand out appointments to a cardiologist with your meal!! Low fat/high fruit is definitely where it's at- how can that be bad for anyone?!

And I can totally identify with the nut craving. I'm really struggling with fat, salt and vinegar! I'm so addicted- it's so hard for me to break... the first month wasn't so bad, but for some reason it's getting harder now... I think I'm not getting enough sleep, and I'm a little stressed too... this stuff is just so addicting, it's not fair :(

Thanks for the list Wendy!

I love Chris Carlton's transformation - he is GLOWING with health!
You really do see that older people's skin looks better then someone in their early 20's these days.
I went to my local health food store the other day and the owner was glowing. He had the best skin I've ever seen on a man and he was probably in his late 40's. ..then on the way home I had to go into KFC to use their bathroom (long walk home and all that juice was catching up with me haha) and the kids that walked out looked truly awful. They were all probably in their late teens but overweight , blemished skin, puffy eyes with bags...just looked so unwell. That was actually the day I went Vegan so to me it was like a message from the universe "now which road do you want to go down Anna?" haha I never eat KFC anyway but before going vegan I had a massive sweet tooth and my fave food was Nutela and Macarons as well as home made gourmet pizza on a gluten free base but still no wonder I was getting all those skin problems being a vegetarian (and piscetarian at times) .

LaTricia- I knew there was something toxic about truly raw cashews- didn't know it was actually in the shell- thanks! ;)  Hey- I'm not completely raw all the time, so no judgments from here! It's just that when I was completely raw and eating anything (and everything! :O) I started to learn that a great quantity of food that I was eating was actually NOT even raw!!! Big business cashing in a niche market :(  So when I learned 811 it just rang so much with me- no supplement (to speak of), no superfoods, no special raw this product or that product... just good wholesome produce!! :) And now when I eat something that's not raw- I KNOW it ;)
