Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
3 weeks and 1 day ago I was eating meat, drinking massive protein shakes in my own blissful world of low health.
Then, I watched Earthlings.
Yup, that night I stayed up all night, reading and researching. I bought the Raw Food Cleanse e-book and read throughout the night, planning, and plotting my new journey.
It has been 3 weeks and my changes are unbelievable! I honestly did not feel any major differences in my energy for the first week...but, oh my... the second week and now this past week I feel UNSTOPPABLE! I love the way I feel!!! And despite my massive calorie increase and indulging in some high fat gourmet raw recipes (yum!), I have lost 6 lbs! I have been running and exercising with a new energetic outlook! I'm simply glowing!
My goal was originally to lose the 20lbs I gained studying for my medical board exams (3rd year med student) and to change my lifestyle so I could prescribe this lifestyle to future patients. Instead what I found was so much more! I have previously spent my life as the obese child and grew up into competing in figure shows, but with many drastic impacts to my health. I had an eating disorder and have gained back weight after every contest. My goal is to stop the cycle (eating disorder free for almost 1 year) and compete again as raw vegan :)
Because I am a student, I hate cooking! But, since passed my board exams, I recently had a bit of extra time and have found myself giving my VitaMix a massive workout each day! I have made raw hostess cupcakes, zucchini spaghetti, and have been thrown into a world of ingredients I never knew existed! I have researched bee pollen, spirullina, and raw protein powders like a crazy person! I have made horrible tasting shakes and ones that would make your mouth water. And even more importantly, my family has gotten on board and helped prepare some amazing recipes!
I have not had any meat cravings and can't even imagine ever feeling them with how alive I feel! I do have goals for the next few weeks which will include cutting back on my fat and only indulging in my gourmet recipes 1-2 x per week. I also have been logging my calories, proteins etc.. and realize that as a competitive figure competitor (right now more like a competitive couch potato) I will want to increase my protein after researching raw vegan athletes. I will post some "before" pics next week and try to keep them coming each week. I love this forum!
Thanks for all the support!
