No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!
On February 8th I began day 1 of my 100-Day Juice Fast, this fast has been a task that I have wanted to start so many times but never had the proper tools, advise and of course self motivation to take on, but now I am ready to take this journey and reap the rewards of my work. Here is THE book that from my bookshelf to started my juicing quest: The Complete Book of Juicing: Your Delicious Guide To Healthful Living by Michael T. Murray, N.D. foreword by Jay Kordich, "The Juiceman"
There are many factors that have made me part take on such a long fast (health, life, inspiration from others) but I will not go into too much details as to the complete why's. As I progress further in my fast I will try to journey as much details as possible (pros, cons, rants, etc...), also posts will be on a weekly basis vs. posting daily (I will submit all weekly posts from my journal) so without further ado here I go....
Week 1 February 8th-14th
February 8th - Day 1 of 100 day juice fast
Woke at 10:00 am (up late last night) and drank a large glass of water with fresh lemon juice. Began preparation of fruits and vegetables for juicing, washed and cut spinach, kale, beets, celery, apples, oranges, carrots. Made 2 quarts of fruit and 2 quarts of vegetable juices and 2 quarts of mixed fruit and vegetable juice. I divided all the juice in mason jars for easy storage, to also extend the contents and of course carrying on the go.
Lunch was a jar of Vegetable (green) juice and water, stayed inside today too cold outside :-( so I curled up with a good read, had a nap and some tackled the chore of reorganizing my closet lol. A huge headache occurred but subsided within an hour.
Dinner was a glass of fruit juice and water, too full to drink anything else for the remainder of the evening, will continuing divulging in my book and call it a night.
February 9th - Day 2
Up early felt very dizzy, drank large glass of water followed by a glass of fruit juice. Returned to bed and slept for 4 hours (was amazed how drained my body felt). Showered, very thirst drank only water. Finally getting outside to complete a few errands, returned home late in the early evening, had glass of vegetable juice and lights out...goodnight.
February 10th, 11th, & 12th - Days 3, 4 and 5
Awoke late mainly between 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm, the past few days I have been feeling so exhausted and experiencing so many major detox symptoms, constant sneezing, coughing, mild headaches, bathroom visits (no details needed), dry skin, fatigue, lethargic and sleepiness. Drank plenty of water, vegetable and fruit juices throughout the day. Just letting the detox take its course and let my body go with the flow.
February 13th & 14th - Days 6 and 7
Awoke around 10:00 am with this amazing burst of energy WOW!!!, a few detox symptoms (dry skin, sneezing, and the old faithful (bathroom visits) are still kicking my behind with a new bonus a sore throat WT* but hey the big plus is that I am buzzing around with all this energy to burn. Consumed 2 large glass of water followed by 2 glass of fruit and vegetable juice, and went even further to infuse a few quarts of various aromatic herbs for tea Yummy!!
The following day I made the trek to the outside world to bask in what sunlight that was visible and visit my local market for more fresh fruits and vegetables to continue this lush juicy journey. I miss hitting the trail and running, this cold weather has really taken its toll on my body, hopefully next week I can get a few miles in before I return to the babe cave and hibernate.
Well on to more juice and recovery from this crazy detoxing, until we meet again.
