Raw Food Rehab

Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Last week I was on fire, down 6lbs and feeling terrific.  However, I knew it would be a challenging week because my husband and I were going to be staying with my father and his side of the family for a few days and on the road the entire week.

I was packed and loaded w/ my Vitamix, fresh fruits and veggies and prepared to use my new Zucchini pasta maker for my family.  However, I did make a rule that I would not make a big deal out of anything that "I can't eat" and just nicely eat what I am given (other than meat).  Although I planned, I did eat quite a bit that was not on the agenda.  I never got around to actually preparing any food as we were always on the road.  My dad made spaghetti with large chunks of meat that I could "pick out".   I also ate quite a few veggie burgers over the weekend that were cooked.  And again, too many "nut" items when we were driving.

All and all, I gained a couple of my 6 lbs backed but spent the entire week traveling and spending time with my family sharing my raw food journey.  I am not beating myself up over any cooked food as this is the first time this side of the family has even seen me turn down meat.  We just got back yesterday and I feel sluggish and gross from overeating white flour and not enough greens.  I am ready to get back on the band wagon and am going to shoot for making the Vday salad on this site and some other goodies for my me and my hubby tomorrow.

Oh, and my husband just watched the" Earthlings" last night and is on board to convert over to the raw lifestyle for a few weeks or longer (he wants to try it).  I ordered him some Vega protein powder so he doesn't complain about "not getting in enough protein" (he loves bodybuilding too) and hopefully we can try this lifestyle on as a couple.

My goal for the 2nd month raw will be to continue my food journal and continue the weekly updates on this site.  My hubby and I last year at this time were competing in bodybuilding shows and both gained quite a few extra lbs last year studying for our medical board exams.  I would love to compete as a rawatarian and give this community the spotlight it deserves ;)

Thanks for all your inspiration and comments!
