Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

Chia Seeds, New Motivation, and Go FRESH!

Well I finally did it and ordered some Chia seeds!! I'm slowly buying the necessities to fill my pantry because money is quite tight. I'm SO GLAD I got chia! I'm actually amazed. I made a green smoothie this morning and I'm still full. Wow! This never happens. I know the nutritional value in chia seeds is amazing so I'm happy to start incorporating them into my diet. I plan on adding them on top of a salad later this evening.

So how much chia seeds to you actually have a day? Just what you can? A set amount each day? I soaked a tablespoon of the seeds in about 1/4 cup of water for about 30 minutes before putting it into my smoothie and blending. I'm hoping this was the way to go.

On another note, I'm so motivated to keep going! :) When I first started eating raw I think I got a little overwhelmed and discouraged. I was mad at myself for not eating more raw and eating less SAD foods. I was beating myself up constantly. Now, I realize that this is MY JOURNEY, and I'm improving my health along the way. I can go as slow or as fast as I need to. I can do my best and continue to try to do more. Why didn't I take this as a positive thing before? It was only what I wasn't doing. I've always been hard on myself and I need to stop. I've been this way for as long as I can remember. Now that I'm aware of it I'm changing. It feels great!

Signing up for Go FRESH was huge for me. I'm joining the Vault and the Weight Room. I can't wait! I'm ready to dive into the physical, mental, and spiritual paths that I will find. I'm ready for the knowledge, support, and friendships that are about to come.

Today is a good day.

I love chai seeds and make puddings and such with them. I even add them to my SAD families scrambled eggs.

I make up a mason jar full and keep it in the fridge to have ready for my smoothies or to just eat for a quick kibble....a truly yummy treat is ripe banana, ripe papaya blended and add a few spoons of chia gel or to whatever consistency you like! Enjoy...

Gwen your pudding sounds delicious!! I might make this tomorrow. How much seeds to milk? Is there a ratio?

Sometimes I make pudding! I use a lot more seed in that case though. I mix the seeds with almond milk and put in cinnamon and sliced bananas & a sprinkle of chopped nuts or crumbled Rawnola!

I let the seeds in my morning drink soak, stirring w/ a straw every now and then until they will all float in the water. I guess it's about 10 minutes? I just throw the seeds in a cup, stick in a straw and stir on my way to work lol.

I love chia too!!!! I soak about one T in some water, add some fruit (berries or kiwi) and some liquid vanilla stevia and eat it like pudding :)

Do you let the seeds soak in the water before drinking it? I guess you would have to, right?

I actually did skip lunch today but it was only because I was so full from my smoothie with chia. lol

Angie-

I LOVE CHIAAAAA! I drink a big glass (about 16-20 oz water with a heaping tablespoon of seeds) of chia twice daily, just with water and nothing else. It keeps me full and gives me tons of energy and I skip two meals that way lol. I am trying to lose quite a bit of weight, so don't worry about me "skipping" meals. Although it's not really skipping when you're having chia as it's so nutritive!

Angela Stokes and Matt Monarch recommend making thick chia gel (sounds like what you made above) and eating three tablespoons three times a day.
