And then 80-10-10 Eva beat her omni boyfriend in a 10km race...

So, today we did a 10km race. My goal was to beat my omni boyfriend
(love him to bits), ideally in a time below 53 min.
He had trained semi-hard. 5 years ago in the same race he did 48min something. I did
59, was eating omni and weighed 12kg more than now.

So omni Paul (fuelled on breakfast cereal and protein shake) and 811(Porsche?)rv Eva
(fuelled by 12-date-date-orade) line up at the starting line. We say
good luck and off we go, Paul starting slightly ahead of me.

I tried not to lose sight of him and noticed that his pace was quite
doable. My training pace for 10km had been 11.11km/h, this was slightly
faster. So I decide to stick to his pace, about 2m behind him. At first I
tried to hide so that he wouldn't notice. At the first turnaround point
(a little "out and back" bit), I even hide behind others, but at some
stage he noticed. Thankfully he didn't try and go faster. So I trot
along, always a couple of steps behind him, carefully making sure that I
can keep the pace.

I kept telling myself that I can do it, I can beat him.

When we approached the finish area, he sped up, trying to shake me off. Gosh, it was a hard b*tch pacing to that finish. It
was still to far away for a sprint, but then, the last 20m, I gave it
all I had left and crossed the line first :-).

I felt absolutely victorious. I had to stop and get myself back together while dearest
boyfriend 'collapsed' at the fence. I said "I beat you!" and kissed him
:-).

Well, we didn't know the exact time yet and I got a bit worried about the net time of the transponder.
But I have been able to look it up. And guess what...

We friggin finished in exactly the same time. Both of us finished in
52:29.
How can that be??? I should have pressed more at the end,
but nevertheless I still feel victorious because

- I crossed the finish line first (and that's what really matters)
- I have shorter legs
- I am above him in the statistics
- I came 12th of female finishers (he came 70 of males).

So yeah, bananas and dates and me - we
all rock :-)

And he said he was very proud of me for kicking his butt, that means a lot coming from him.

Just wanted to share this :-)

P.S.: The lesson in this? Omni/SAD sucks. Eating animals or their products sucks. Having a pure, clean body that we love, appreciate and look after - rocks!!! And 80-10-10 (low fat raw vegan) is the optimal diet for health, happiness, and performance :-)
