Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
Hi everyone, I just ordered myself an omega 8006, i hear it makes good juices but i am a little worried because now I am hearing it is no good with nut milks. I had the Omega 350vrt and took it back because i didn't like the cleaning process and how everything would get stuck. Anyway I am now wondering if i should purchase a Blendtec or Vitamix for better nut milks.... the only problem is that they are so expensive. Can anybody share some input on these two blenders? and also if anyone has had any experience using the Omega 8006, please share!

Comment by Supermom on November 26, 2012 at 4:21pm I've seen both this week at Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
The warranty on Vitamix is longer than Blendtec.
The Vitamix lid closes more securely.
Vitamix also makes a 64oz. shorter/wider pitcher that I saw on Home Shopping Network that fits under cabinets better.
Vitamix also has a the new "quieter" blender, look for the much thicker rubber pad for the pitcher to sit on that comes with the shorter/wider pitcher.
The refurbished one I bought from RawfullyOrganic.com, has a special 8 year warranty and all I paid was $350 for the taller 5200 model, which included shipping, the Raw Cookbook, and a few light spatulas and cutting boards.
i've been looking at these two blenders as well! i think that they are both great, but the blendtec is what i would choose right now just because it is shorter (to fit under my cabinets) and it has a different blade system than the vitamix, but i'm not sure that makes it any better! they are both supposed to be excellent - i don't think you will go wrong with whichever you choose.

Comment by Jason Littlewolf on November 15, 2012 at 9:06pm Vitamix is the best way to go! I bought one this past summer and it is worth every penney invested!
Comment by Jane on November 14, 2012 at 11:49am I love my vitamix; they cost more in the UK (approx £400 plus) but it’s the best investment I’ve ever made. I use it at least once a day (usually several times a day) for: smoothies, nut & seed mylks, dips, dressings, raw soup etc. However, I recently saw a YouTube clip of Matt Monarch saying the Blendtec is best so you might want to look it up before shelling out, but I’m happy with my vitamix!
Have a look in the Tool Shed where there is much information about kitchen equipment and gadgets :-)
Comment by Supermom on November 14, 2012 at 10:05am I use a Vitamix several times a day. The clean up is amazingly quick and easy. I make almond milk by blending soaked almonds and water, then strain it through a $1 paint strainer bag to remove the pulp, then blend again with a couple of pitted medjool dates and vanilla. Yum!
Kristina Carillo-Bucaram of Rawfully Organic Co-op can hook you up with a refurbished Vitamix for about $350. It comes with a brand new pitcher, and has a super long warranty. I was able to request the fabulous raw cookbook instead of the regular one: Livefresh Recipe Binder with a recipe DVD by Ani Phyo.
I have an Omega 8005 and dearly love mine. It does not make nut mylk, but it does everything else. It makes nut butters, ice creams, juices fruits, veggies and greens....I would not take money for mine. Anywhoo... I have heard nothing but rave reviews for the Vitamix. I have heard good things about the Blendtec as well...though not quite as favorable for some things. If you are needing something specifically for nut mylks...any blender will do. I would really consider keeping your juicer.
Comment by Jean on November 13, 2012 at 7:01pm I have a Vitamix and love it. Others have Blendtecs and love those. I think it is up to you. I did some stupid things to my Vitamix when it was new and Vitamix took care of everything FREE> My friends Vitamix was 15yrs old and they replaced her motor Free so I am happy with their customer service. Costco has Vitamixes at a lower price. Vitamix has refurbished ones also at a lower price. You can get free shipping with a coupon code.
