know what I think that stocking up on frozen stuff is a GREAT idea! I also have a discount grocery store and I will be stocking up there too. Does anyone here buy nuts online for cheap? or not as expensive as usual?
Have you tried the frozen section at your supermarket? Sometimes frozen fruits are cheaper that fresh ones (makes
sens, there is no waste), you can find frozen veggies too that are quite accessible. They're ok.
anyone have a source for cheap nuts?? I really want some but they are so spendy.
I also have a little garden coming up but I have another month until it comes up....
THANK YOU! I love all of this help. Its exactly why I am on this board! I will be trying many of these ideas. I love the asian markets here. There is one 3 blocks from me. Indian markets are great too! I just need to organize my self and what I want to eat and what I can afford to eat.
There's a website called Raw on $10 a Day (or less) that may help and give you ideas. You don't have to buy all the more expensive superfoods to do the raw thing either. Good luck!
I go to asian markets here in uk and fruits there is cheap, not organic but by my budget, sometimes i take cases like case of oranges was £6 about $10. and bananas yes, they are always cheap. :)
I am definitely on a budget...years of budgeting. Pretty much everything can be considered in a circular pattern of eating and using what's left. For instance, I make my own almond mylk, then I have freeze the almond pulp and make my own hummus with it and eat it with apples, dehydrator crackers etc. When I juice things, I save the pulp (freeze it) and use it in cracker recipes etc. I keep some nuts on hand and may occasionally have a handful of nuts and a handful of some kind of dried fruit or fresh fruit. Yes, you don't have to go crazy having a lot on hand. I make smoothies too. It becomes a game and an awesome challenge and you can find lots of things to stretch your dollar.
What Nathalie said. :-) Also if you can grow some greens.
bananas are cheap....right now a lot of fruits are cheap, salads...it doesn't have to be complicated or expensive.
Corn is not too expensive. Eat a lot of what is cheap (breakfast: 3 to 4 bananas for example?).
You'll make it!!!!
