Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!

I survived a party and grilling session held in honor of my 60th bd!!!!!

Hey everyone, hope that you all are doing great!!! Last night I survived a party and grilling session held to honor my nieces and my birthdays. I made 60 years old last week, thank you God!!!!

But, I had to really plan ahead. I went to Kmart and purchased a large thermal bag and before the party I loaded it down this stuff to help me make it through the night. I put in the bag the following:  Cut up watermelon, 4 slices of ezekiel bread(2 slices for anyone who wanted some), red leaf lettuce, purple onion, tomatoes, and 2 kinds of boca burgers and avocados. I had them grill all of the boca burgers in case anyone wanted one( no one did in the midst of all those other unhealthy choices). When they were done, I made myself a sandwich on the ezekiel bread and it looked so delish, everyone was looking at my sandwich. So that's what I had at the party. I survived it and there was stuff that I used to love laying all around the room. I was not even tempted at all.  I didn't even eat any of my birthday cake and ice cream. I think everyone wants to see me well or were threatened not to offer me any of it. Only one person tried to make me eat some of it.This was a major success for me., Memorial day was the first holiday I survived with just juice and now this party. I'm so happy, I really believe that I'm going to make it this time.

I'm walking without my cane now, almost all of the time and feeling great about that. I keep it folded up in my purse, just in case. Before the juice feast, I wondered if I would ever be able to walk without that cane again. In just one month, my dream has become a reality. That really encourages me keep going.  My clothes are getting too big and I had to take in one of my brand new favorite skirts the other day and a new blouse. Yipee!!!

My glucose numbers are normal every day and every time. They were pretty much normal before  since they said I had pre-diabetes, but they still put me on Metformin. Now some of my numbers are too low. I'll have to speak to my doctor about that.

I have also started exercising every other day, I feel much better and it's easier to get out of the chair now. No more sitting there and anticipating the pain that will occur when I get up.

Still no weight yet, since i can't find my scale and the one i purchased was not for someone who in the 230-240 range, so I took it back. I have to wait until I am able to purchase a good scale, but for now I could care less, since my clothes are telling the story.

I'm rereading the book "Veganist" over again and the promises that are made to people who start to eat a plant-based diet.

Here are some promises to those people:Switch to a plant-based,vegan diet and  within days the weight starts to drop away, within a week blood sugar starts to fall, within two weeks blood pressure improves and with a month cholesterol improves significantly. Research shows that a vegetarian diet could add a good ten years to your life.

Hey its up to us to make the change in our lives that could actually save our lives.

Keep me in your prayers please.

That is great Glenda!  You are doing so well.  But you must be a stronger advocate with your doctor as I don't think you should have or at least should not continue taking that medication.   Pharmaceutical drugs all have side effects and imho are all poisons and should be avoided if at all possible.  I do understand it is not always possible and I do take them when I feel I have no other choice.  I hope you don't mind my saying this but as you can tell I feel strongly about it....your health will be better if you stop taking it...you don't need your doctor's permission...your blood sugar is normal, your diet is great.  It will only harm you.   Tell him you stopped taking it as you do not need it.  And congratulations again and I wish you all the best!  (I also just had a birthday, same day as my mother's 85th so we were all home and there was cake everywhere, but I did not have any either.....)

I will pray for you!  I think it is awesome that you succeeded in eating healthy choices during 2 different holiday occasions.  Remember your health issues and stay focussed on your healing!  God bless.
