Cancer the sequel: badder and harder

Hi folks -

Milly's breast cancer has metastasized to her eyes, brain, bones, liver, and lung.   She started having bone pain and headaches in January, a mere 2.5 months of finishing treatment.  We initially dismissed the symptoms as related to cycling injuries.  She had teeth problems due to knocking them loose in an accident in August '10.  And she had overuse injuries in her hip tendons.  Besides, it was much too soon after initial treatment for us to panic and believe it was a recurrence.  It wasn't until her head and bone pain failed to get better that we knew something was amiss.  She lost most of her vision in early February and the docs found eye tumors which led us to more tests and the discovery of diffuse metastases throughout her body.

She spent two weeks at OHI San Diego in early January and felt very energized by the experience.  It alleviated some lingering chemo side effects - cured her muscle and joint pain, and improved her movement.   She is totally committed to the OHI diet now because it helps her to feel better while she heals.  I've got a full team of people coming to the house each day to make a gallon of green juice, ferment Rejuvelac and kimchee, and create massive salads we can enjoy for lunch and dinner each day.   We continue to pursue conventional Western medical treatment.

We have every reason to believe she'll beat the odds.  Her name is Milagros after all :-) .   She's receiving whole brain radiation and steroids which have already improved her sight and there's a very good chance she'll get  most of it back.  The radiation also helps with the severe pain from bone mets.   Her pain is well managed with lots of morphine.   We have an incredible community of tight knit friends and family who provide all the love and support you could imagine.    I wanted everybody to know that living foods is providing Milly with a very high quality of life.

I'm not around RFR very much.  I know I'm not supposed to promote personal blogs without checking in with Penny first, but I don't have a lot of time as a primary care giver who still works full time.   I humbly beg forgiveness in advance.   If people want to continue following our adventures with living foods as a support to healing, please do feel free to follow link removed per House Rules.  I use it to coordinate and instruct our food team on the things which need to be done.

Live for today, you never know how your life can change in an instant.  Peace, joy, and love be with you all.

I was just thinking about you the other day Laura. Thanks for the updates on Milly and how she's doing with the green juices etc and the more conventional treatments. And glad to hear that she's feeling better.

Love to you both and here's to good health.  Angela X
