Adding LIFE to your years and years to your life!
My husband has a degenerative disk giving him lots of trouble. I told him that juicing would give his body the nutrients it needs to do some healing on that disk. Any resources/thoughts/experiences/knowledge that I can impart on him from any of you? THank you in advance :)

Comment by Kale Blossom on December 20, 2011 at 6:21am Nutrients will aid the healing proccess but has he done any yoga for his back? I know when I strained my back, I followed my dad's advice(laying on the floor, but I kept my knees up, it made my back flatter) and I could hear my back pretty much creaking back into place! I did this continually over the weekend, even when I went to my boyfriend''s house(we played a lot of videogames and I got a few backrubs ;D ) and by the start of the next workweek, I was good as new! Of course Degenerative disk is not in the same field as my pain(I'm guessing because I'm only 19 but I did do some digging on WebMD) but perhaps it will help alleviate some of his pain. :)
Never know till you try! Who knows perhaps juice fasting and/or a heavy raw diet and some yoga could heal him super fast and then you have a fellow raw foodie! <3
and besides...what could it hurt to try it?????
i've had a bad back for years. about 2 years ago, i did something to my back that caused 2 of my disks to bulge. yuk. it was horrible pain. i had been doing a lot of exercise, and had gotten my weight down for the first time in years but, unfortunately, i wasn't properly exercising and had strained my back enough so that when i injured myself it REALLY was awful! i can tell you that I've tried many different healing modalities, both western medicine and woo-woo kinds, and i have to say that attitude is now my best defense: i decided to take control of my back pain and it really helped. I got myself into raw food and it has really helped.. my ATTITUDE! my FIL has a bad back as well, and, i have to say, he's pretty much given up... i think juicing WILL help your husband's attitude definitely.. and that is the beginning of healing the rest.
oh, and all the wonderful nutrients that will help his brain function will also be fabulous for the rest of his body! i believe juicing helps with any inflammation the body is experiencing as well, and that can be a terrible source of pain. i wish you all the best.
