Oh No...the Flu is visiting my family!!

I have two family members in my home with the flu!!  What do you do to keep for getting the flu or lessening the severity of it?  I am taking lots of fluids, taking extra Vitamin D  and I am drinking different teas.  I cannot have the flu right now, there is so much going on at work and I am taking care of other family members!  Help!

Starting over with Raw Food Cleanse

I took today off of work to babysit some repairs at home.  A rarity for me to take the day off of work.  As I sit here and wait for the service people to arrive, I became frustrated with myself.  I cannot seem to stay on a regime long enough for real long term change.  So today I am starting at the beginning of my raw food journey.   " Raw Food Cleanse" By Penni Shelton.  If you haven't gotten this book, please do, it is one of the best step by step books for a Raw Food Cleanse available. …

Starting a Juice Fast Ash Wednesday!

For me Lent is a special time of reflection, so this year I am going to do a Juice Fast.  I am going to start Ash Wednesday.  I would love to be able to go the full forty days that Jesus spent in the desert, but I know that Jesus would look kindly on me for whatever good changes I make during Lent. If anyone would like to join me on this  journey,  please do,  your company would be a blessing.

Joe Cross convinced another man!

Well I never thought the day would come, but it has and I am super excited.  My husband is juicing with me.  He is going to start out slow.  Green juice for breakfast for a few days, then adding green juice for lunch for a few days, then adding green juice or green soups for dinner.  He has agreed to eat clean until  the day he is juicing  for all meals .  This is monumental for my hubby and I can thank Joe Cross,   his video Fat, Sick, and Nearly… Continue

GROW IT CHALLENGE

I was listening to the news today.  The  forcast for the cost of goods is rising out of control and the cost of one,  in particular will effect us the most.  PRODUCE.... because of the cost of fuel, which icreases the price of everything.  I am challenging everyone to grow your own.  It does not have to be huge and you don't need alot of land or any land.  You can grow in containers on your balconies or porches, in your front yard or in your backyard. I have seen gardens on roofs and along… Continue

Raw food is working, my blood tests tell me so

Had my bi annual blood tests for cholesterol, Vit D and thyroid.  I am so FREAKING elated...  My HDL is 81....my glucose dropped to 98, no more Vit D or Vitamin b12 deficiencies, lost over 10 lbs from 6 mos ago.  My thyroid is leveling out and my medication is now steady.  My endo asked how this happened?  She told me this is fantastic, how did I do this?   I told her the truth, I eat a diet that is largely raw.   She told me to change NOTHING, continue with what I am doing.... What is…

Never live a day thinking you are too old to do something

The best wisdom and support comes from within your own family.  "Never live a day thinking you are too old to do something"  That is one of the lines written in a card to me from my 19 year old son.  This boy is a wise soul, long time ago he reminded me of some song verse "life is like a dance, sometimes you lead sometimes you follow"

I hoped I did not lead my son to think that I thought I was too old to do anything, old is  what shoes and bread become, not me.  I know the first order…

I feel empowered

I had my first appointment with my Naturopath. I have found someone who will help keep me on the track to healing my body, thru raw and whole foods. I was so happy to find a supportive person. I was warned by some people that a Naturopath will just try to sell supplements. Well I did buy supplements, and actually less than I buy at the drug store. My ND told me she will work in conjunction with my MD and Endocrinologist. I left so empowered. I actually feel, after all of these years that I…

I do not have the guts like I used to, today.

I started in the vault and the progress has been slow for me. I thought I would kick it up and juice. As usual I was late to start juicing with the group, so I started on Monday the 23rd. I am following many of the "juicers" here and and have the typical symptoms of detox. I love how everyone is so quick to share ideas, recipes and support. I get waves of fatigue and then an enormous amount of energy, which I have been channeling to detox my home and work enviroment too! I find the hardest…

It’s the weirdest thing!

I was one of the Original Cast members of Raw Food Rehab. Last year while going raw, my daughter noticed my eye color change from a dull gray blue to my childhood blue. Well, I have been 3 ½ days high raw and we noticed today that my eyes are getting bluer. I thought maybe this is just a weird thing that happens to me, since our bodies all respond differently to our diets. After some research…

5 Paths to Happiness Internal changes to transform your life

The purpose of life is the pursuit of happiness. But you sometimes lose your way and end up going in the wrong direction. When that happens, how do you change your life to make it better?

Happiness is an inside job. Before you change anything else in your life, have a look at yourself. If you don’t change who you are, any external changes you make will feel nice temporarily, but then you’ll go back to feeling the way you did before.

Here are the five points that will help you…

I want to share this from our very own member, Ce.

I had asked Ce how she was 100% raw yesterday and she posted the following on my page.

I asked Ce if I could share this on my blog and she gave me her blessings. I am going to print this out and keep it close, as my mantra and to help keep the addict in me under control!

Ce said…

You know I’m not really sure what it is or was that clicked. It happened to me once before when I tired and tried to juice fast and…

Please read, the deadline is February the 16th.

The USDA is well on its way to approving Monsanto's genetically modified alfalfa. In its own report, the USDA says that not enough consumers care enough about organic foods for the USDA to block Monsanto's modified alfalfa seeds. [1]

The USDA is only accepting public comments for the next two weeks. We need you to write to the USDA right now and tell them they must not approve Monsanto's mutant alfalfa. [2] We'll deliver your comments before the…

Oh No they are at it again.... genetically modified Alfalfa!!!!

I truly don't think the USDA nor Monsanto give two hoots about our children or grandchildren or the world in which they will live in. Take a look at this and make your decision. Mine was easy. Monsanta needs to stop this madness. The USDA needs to do it's job to protect us and stop Monsanto

Tell the USDA NO to Monsanto's GE Alfalfa! Click here to sign. …

No more excuses. Time to put on the big girl britches...and

own up and move on. How raw can I be today? As raw as I want. So today I am given another chance (thank you Lord) Today I am chosing to be as raw as I can. I am going to stop enabling myself and start taking control and care of myself. I woke up in a pissy mood. You know, get on the scale see a gain and then want to throw the towel in. Well not today. I looked at that scale and said, Linda, seriously, stop, and start all over today. I in theory, put on my big girl britches. I did I came down to… Continue

My MD Noticed I lost weight

Had to go to my regular Dr. for post niacin reaction checkup. I don't see him as often as I see my endocronologist. So after my a clean checkup. He noticed that on my chart that I have lost some weight. At the beginning of 2009, I weighed 196 lbs. now I weigh a little over 175lbs .(that is a good amount of weight to lose when you are hypothyroid) He asked me if I was losing weight intentionally or if I was feeling ill. I said I was watching my diet and he asked how I was losing the weight and I… Continue
