No rigid rules, labels or dogmas.... just REAL food, for your body, mind & soul!
Today is my best pal's birthday. I made what I call 'fairy food' - light, beautiful, radiantly raw and tasty on the palate.
I put together a plate of zucchini slices topped with pesto (basil & pumpkin seeds blended w/ olive oil & a bit of garlic salt)
then sundried tomatoes and 1 olive. These little 'sliders' were a hit. My friend said, why in the world would anyone ever want crackers if they had these?
She is not raw by any means, so it is really fun to delight…Continue

Hi friends ~
Just had to share this - so excited! Today I offered a Green Smoothie tasting bar after church during our usual 'hosptality' time when the customary fare is coffee and processed junk (well you know what I mean right?).
Two friends and I, assisted by my son and his girlfriend, fired up our Vitamixes and served small tasting cups of
1 savory and 1 fruity smoothie. Well, we had 'em lined up and coming back for 2nds and 3rds! People were curious, we answered…Continue
hi dear friends - it's been a while since I've posted, and this seems like the time to share some raw goodness!
My son turned 27 over the weekend. He has been vegetarian since age 3 when he declared that he did not want to eat his friends (the animals) any longer. We both converted then and there and have been vegetarian for 24 years.
Recently my son took the next step to becoming vegan - inspired by his lovely new girlfriend who is very health conscious (thank you Universe!).…Continue
I am so grateful for Penni's invitation to join the 3 Day Cleanse America Initiative.
I opted to go for an additional 2 days, turning it into a 5 day - juicing/smoothies/liquid only exploration.
Here are my reflections on the journey
hi friends - I noticed that the last three posts have some reference to news or newness. So I'm adding a little news from me - a really fun thing that happened on my raw journey. I recently saw a post in a neighborhood bulletin board online offering a nearly new juicer for free. I have always used a Vitamix, have never had a juicer but have considered getting one for the occasional juice feast/fest now that I am 3 years into my raw life. So - voila! Here was the opening. I e-mailed the…Continue
Imagine my delight when I went to Costco today (very rare for me, but once in while I make the trek to stock up on some items) and found the following: a huge bag of organic baby kale, Nutiva coconut oil, hemp seeds (I'm not kidding), chia seeds and organic spring salad mix - not to mention a mega bag of frozen pineapple - all at lower cost that even the least expensive local health food stores. I am so happy to know that Costco is catching the wave - and getting hip to what…Continue
Well this is surely a milestone and cause for celebration - my 26 year old son made a Green Smoothie for ME! He used the blender that I got for him (a basic inexpensive 3 speed type), and ingredients we shopped for at Trader Joes - but the recipe was all his and he had such joy creating it, including a 'secret' ingredient that he did with flare - he had me turn around so I wouldn't see him put the 'hot pepper sauce' into the mix at the end.…Continue
I am keeping it simple this season - being a shy little woodland creature ;-)
tonight as the rain is gently misting the land, I am indoors enjoying a lovely raw feast. I dehydrated some delicata squash then blended it with warm water, almond milk and spices to make a lovely autumn soup. Also made a delightful raw carrot cake from Penni's "Falling In To Raw" recipe book. I am grateful to be keeping it real and keeping it raw in every season. I wish you all the…Continue
I am checking in with my tribe here in the 'Hab - it's so good to know that you are here and that we are all doing this in our own wonderful, unique and miraculous way!
I just returned from traveling for a seminar. This was the first time that I've done air travel since converting to raw foods (2 and a half years and celebrating).
Not only was I in unfamiliar territory geographically, but was also in unfamiliar territory with the food consciousness around…Continue
Today has been a simply awesome fun Friday! I decided to take a little excursion across the Bay from where I live and stop in to an Asian Market I had heard about. I scored a case of 9 Young Thai Coconuts for $12.00 - I feel sooooo abundant!
Then I attended a hooping class in a nearby town.I am back to hooping - a bit tentative since I am still recovering from an auto accident injury incurred last Spring - so I decided to go to a hooping class and…Continue
hi everybody ~
I am moved to post this because I recently learned that Darlene Knight's father passed away.
I don't know Darlene, or her Dad- but what I do know is that we are community, and Darlene has been a lovely contributor to the high consciousness, good energy, support, good-will and even financial assistance (helping others to have access to initiatives and such through her scholarship fund). And I just thought it might be sweet for us to send her some love notes and…Continue
I have a lovely friend, she is my bookkeeper/organizer angel who has helped this artistic/right brained multi-talented and curious person (that would be me) tame the paper tiger, and keep the records straight through the years.
This lovely friend has noticed the blessings and benefits of my raw foods lifestyle -
just stopping by on this beautiful Monday morning to say hey to my RFR peeps!
I made this salad for dinner last night - a kind of Cinco de Mayo tribute (couple days later)
here's how it goes:
bed of romaine, layered with avos, topped with corn & tomato & red bell pepper salsa, with a scoop of cayenne spiced sunflower/pumpkin seed pate, with a dollop of chipotle flavored sundried tomato sauce - que…Continue
hi lovely friends,
It has been quite a while since I've posted - although I always enjoy visiting the 'Hab to see what everyone is up to.
About 3 weeks ago on a sunny…Continue
decided to check in to the 'Hab today. Not because I am in need of re-Hab-ilitation, but because I have realized what a happy 'Hab-it the raw lifestyle has become for me. Green smoothie and soaked oat groat oatmeal are the start of my day, then I did some choppin' to make a colorful salad to enjoy at mid-day. Also created some lovely sauces to go on my dehydrated crackers, and maybe zucchini noodles for dinner.
This is my way of life now - not a phase or a fad or a…Continue
Green is the color of the heart chakra and green is the glorious color of the vibrant living foods that bring us so fully alive! There are many colors in the raw spectrum - but today I am sending you all a valentine from the green world in celebration of the love and gratitude that I feel for the raw way of living and for all of the lovely people that I get to share the journey with here in Raw Food Rehab.
As I reflect on the many benefits and blessings of living mostly…Continue
It's been quite a while since i've chimed in here in the blog-zone - though I've been happy to be participating here and there in the Hab and in the Vault - and loving being raw - a year and a half now!
Just had to jump in today to share this with you guys. It's one of those 'bad news... no wait good news' kind of stories.
My son, aged 25, lost his job and is also in need of a new place to live. At the moment he is occupying my couch on an occasional basis…Continue
I had a raw break-through that I thought it would be fun to share with my buddies here in the 'hab (love this place!)
Last weekend I attended a 4 day professional development training about 2 hours away from where I live. I was staying on campus with meals provided for the participants.
This is the first time that I've been away from home for any length of time since I went fully raw over a year ago. I was a little apprehensive about the food thing because…Continue
