it can help you survive the day

but in the end all your emotions

will catch up with you and any little thing 

can tip over the scale.

Once you harness positive thinking

it is important to connect those thoughts

with your emotions.

Because once you are really centered,

Sprouts, my first batch!

I came back from yet another stage from school and I just wanted to eat green stuff! 

I also stated the insanity workouts and just to make my mom feel a little better I promised her I would have more "protein" so I soaked mung beans, black chickpeas and adzuki beans, 2-3 days later, I'm having the best, freshest, crunchiest sprout salad ever! 

It is so nice to be able to eat a meal and at the end of it not have a feeling like you want to take a nap.

Watermelon Feast

It was three days of just watermelon and I couldn't be happier! 

I had a good supply of watermelon for the three days, I wasn't hungry and my energies were up, I noticed the difference yesterday when the stock of papaya I had was limited and I was eating smaller portions, in the morning my energy was fine, went to school to do some paperwork and then worked in our garden - our herbs are looking pretty by the way! - but after lunch time I was really tired and took a 2 hr…

Cantaloupe days

Well after three days of cantaloupe I have to say it is important to be prepared.

Before this fast, at the beginning of June I did 2 sugar free weeks with a friend. It was harder than these few days on melon but also let my body prepare for this. 

I have had "ok" energy levels. Last week was very active with lots of events and I noticed just once I was very grumpy but after a melon snack, the feeling went away. I'm taking a nap around 5 pm which helps to replenish…

Stepping away from gluttony

After almost a year in Italy, a month away of finishing my first year at the University of Gastronomic Sciences I have come to one conclusion: this is a school of gluttony. 

This year we had 4 trips around Italy all focused on diverse products or regions where as obvious as it may seem we do for the food, to discover and experience many dishes and ways to produce certain raw materials.

What I just finished devouring...

 

I found this book by chance at the public library, so happy I did! The Fasting Path is a book by Stephen Harrod Buhner, talks about fasting (focuses on dry, water and juice fasts) and even though it looks like a small book (only 190 pages) it's filled with amazingly useful information and gives you some insights as to what effects a fast has on the body, the mind/emotions and the spirit.
